Responding to PP92's question: Feeder program = Middle school teams. Have been very successful the last 8-10 years. Win games at a 70% clip. Current seniors and juniors very competitive up through frosh seasons. This years 6th and 7th grad teams were a combined 58-3. Numbers 7 and 8 above will be the key to continue success.

I'll buy into what your selling here but we obviously are going to need a few more added. Highlands has most if not all of 1-6 and the basketball program is way down. I don't buy the frosh program thing either. Most of the better programs in N Ky have their best frosh play up (CovCath, NCC, Cooper, Holmes) to the junior varsity/varsity teams. I'll add: 7. A majority of team being non-football playing basketball athletes. You can be two sport as long as second sport is not football. 8. Boys that play the sport year round. You can mix in a few footballers (Dixie has 2 FB out of 8 contributers) if you have the nucleus of your team playing year round.

The athletic boosters would love to take credit for this field house, but its not the case. This is a Fort Thomas Independent Schools District funded facility. Lots of groups have been involved in facilities upgrades in the past decade in Fort Thomas. Kudos to the Foundation, the Boosters, independent and private donors, and the Board of Education for making it all happen.

I'm more apt to buy into the "Hatton wanted to go away from home" theory than he was bigger than NKU. I'll definitely buy into the "Campbell was sold on the campus and social aspect of Athens" theory than he was bigger than NKU. I took a visit there with my son and I would have enrolled if it was my visit.

How much "bigger" is Vermont than NKU? Where did Campbell go??

This was foreshadowed just 4 days ago when the Bulldogs were only up 2 with 4 minutes to play against Highlands. I guess Mullins did not play again??

Saw both teams recently. Not surprised by the result.

Another myth.

Liked the way Avery shot free throws last night. Late in the game it will be hard to catch Holmes if they get a lead. They keep the ball in the hands of McClendan and Bolden. Very quick and elusive. Shoot very well from the line.

No need to wait until August for excellence in HHS boys' athletics. While the basketball team goes through a down stretch and put themselves behind the eight ball in the districts, the football team is not the only group excelling. Baseball regional runner up and preseason favorite this spring. Track defending state champions. State champion cross country runner. Regional golf champion. And the defending state champion football team. Keep hating camelman. We don't just wait around for August in Fort Thomas. Thanks for the explanation JDD.

I never understand when a simple question is asked, why everyone responds in riddles or with other questions The answer is yes, Austin Hergott is a Fort Thomas native. Father and mother attended Highlands. Older brother graduated from Highlands. Has lived in Fort Thomas for as long as I can remember, maybe his whole life.

I was wondering who was going to be the poster that came out with this line. Congrats Danny. BTW you were the betting favorite cause its just your style. For those thinking this may have been the case, ask those in attendance how dad coached the game. He was working the officials all night, and not so pleasant with the Bulldog players during a few time outs.

Has anyone ever mentioned on here how good James Bolden IS? WOW. I can't even remember the 9 shots Walter says he missed tonight. I thought he was almost perfect. His crossover step back in the first half buckled the defense and drew a collective sigh from the stands. He hit a fall away jumper from the right baseline in the first half that was highlight material. He had a tip in late in the game when it was still a one possession game that was special.

I would hope JOAT was looking for some input from the Holmes contingent or the Bluebird faithful that were at the game. Instead we get garbage. Proud of how well the Birds played tonight. Actually looked like they had some fun out there. Kendall shot the 3 extremely well in the first half. Birds as a group didn't shoot it very well but managed to stay in the game in the first half. Second half they scored on quite a few back door cuts. With Avery defending Harris away from the bucket, the Birds got about 5 layups on nice passes. Just kept waiting to Holmes to break loose with that 10-0 run and it really never happened. Holmes was able to put the game away in the last 3 minutes.

I think some are misinterpreting the premise of the thread. Don't believe anyone is intending this as a chest thumping, we are the champions type boast. It is taking a look at the facts and stating an opinion. State champion varsity team in 2013/2014. Undefeated against 9th region competition this season with wins over both of the other major contenders. Best player is still only a sophomore. Emerging star in the junior Flood. Very talented JV squad. Undefeated frosh team with a couple freshmen playing up to JV. Next years frosh class loaded with talent. Looks like the recipe for a dynasty to me.

I would change it from "on the verge of" to "in the midst of" one of the greatest runs ever. I agree that this year is no lock, but its won't be because of the lack of excellence in Park Hills. It would be because NCC has a VERY talented group this year. CovCath picks up where they leave off for next year, and the following year, and........ Everyone else will be playing catch up for sure.

LB is following along with other posts I have made concerning the dominance of N Ky competition. In those posts I have specifically removed CovCath from the calculation and/or been more specific to "in games they have won". Being late to the party I can understand where you would miss the intent of my post.

You can't have hype when one side is under a gag order. I'll take NCC by 38.4 points. That's how bad they beat every N Ky team.

Was posting based on a regular season schedule that HHS played. Was told tonight that the St Agnes game was an additional game and not a league game. Seeding will be based on 19 games. HMS 7th is now 17-1 in league play.
