The six players on the floor reference is correct, but just not at the end of game/winning basket scenario. HHS came out of a timeout with just under 3 minutes left. Six on the floor as the ball being ready to inbound - Danville players trying to match up and of course one player left unguarded. Harris quickly exited the floor as the ball was being inbounded - Mitchell Cain broke to the goal and scored an easy layup. Total failure on the part of the officials to count players. Heads up play by Parker Harris to dive on the floor at the scorers table to give the look that he was checking in.

Highlands got their first win of the season in one of the ugliest games I have ever witnessed and I have watched a lot of bball over the years. The combined shooting percentage for each team was less than 20%. HHS missed a ton of free throws. Plenty of turnovers by each squad. Highlands had a 7 point lead with 3 minutes to play - in this low scoring game that was huge - but let it completely slip away. Danville hits a three with 10 seconds left to take a one point lead. Harris drove the length of the floor and scored through contact at the buzzer for the win. This was each teams second game of the tourney. HHS played much better on Friday in a loss to North Oldham. That was a three point game - I think 55-52.

Well I've been to all 4 games and have wondered why the Birds have started 0-4. Now I know. Harris getting in foul trouble trying to make up for the lack of talent of the rest of the team. Got it. Thanks.

Based on your examples above it was called incorrectly. Elbows were moving. Should have been an intentional foul Noticed the 10th region officials working last nights game looking into the stands, conversing with fans, trying to explain their calls, sometimes even engaging in debate with fans. Is this common in other regions? Rarely does a 9th region official do this.

I thought the infraction was with no contact. Contact is either a personal foul or an intentional/flagrant. Last night it was called a personal foul.

Go ahead and convince yourself that 1 - 5 LLoyd is "not bad at all" if that's what it takes for you to continue thinking that Holmes belongs in the upper echelon of the Ninth Region.

Think the Birds will compete well with teams not in the top 5 in N KY. Well Dixie is a top 5 team and the game was not very competitive. Dixie scored the games first 12 points and led at one point in the first half 27-2. HHS went on a 5 point run to end the half - 27-7. Dixie is too big, too strong, too talented, too deep for the Bluebirds. Dixie subbed liberally in the second half and the Birds made a few shots to keep the score from looking miserable. Bright spots for HHS - played hard on defense, Dixie earned their point total, and senior Kenny Ball can stroke the 3 ball - give him room and he will bury it. Four more 3 balls tonight for the 3 point specialist.

Dixie gets the 20 point win, game was never close. Mismatch from the start.

One under the basket in front of St H bench. Harris goes up for rebound and can't get control. Looks like he is trying to get 2 hands on the ball, and throws it right out of bounds. Another in front of the HHS bench. Weyer very plainly kicks the ball into Birds bench. Both of these instances the ball was given to Highlands.

Will echo the statements that several have already made. Goetz stood out for the Crusaders. Really nice handle and finishes at the rim (especially against an undersized team like HHS). Birds did start the game with Harris (6'4") on him but early fouls caused the Birds to switch to Cain. He did a nice job. Kunstik is a nice player. He was a liability on the defensive end due to match-up problems. When the Birds went small he was on Ball who lives on the perimeter. Kunstik had trouble closing out and Kenny hit several threes. Faust made adjustments and took that away late in the game. Liked the tempo and confidence of HHS. First game, limited practices - encouraged. Not at the level of the top 5 of N Ky, but will compete with the rest of the teams. Hope our friends in stripes take the opportunity to watch the replay available on livesportscaster and critique themselves. A few come to mind. Three obvious blown calls on balls going out of bounds. 2 given to the Birds and one to St Henry that the official making the call had to be the only person in the gym who saw it that way. The shot by Harris that was blocked out of bounds 5 feet right of the backboard was given to St Henry. I could understand if the official thought Parker lost control on the way up, but he told Parker that he shot it in that direction. No help from either of the two officials. The 4th foul on Weyer is the one in the broadcast that Buttels refers to as horrible. I can only assume the official knew he blew the call because Justin's reaction deserved a T and none was given. Next up for HHS is Dixie on Tuesday 12/16

The ball is spotted at the location where the player gains control of the ball. It does not matter that his momentum takes him into the end zone. The play was called correctly. Would be nice if all levels of football would have the same rules.
