Bowling Green looks like, well Bowling Green again. Can anyone knock them off the hill? Pulaski County and Owensboro want a shot. Owensboro proved they aren't far from it, can they do it in the playoffs? Southwestern takes on a good 3A Corbin team this week, will they be able to solidify they are a contender? Will Highlands be able to compete with 6A St. Xavier? Can this be the defining game for the Bluebirds? North Laurel may, very possibly, be on an undefeated regular season tour, what will we learn from them this season? Who should move up? Who is going to move down?

RAM, great stuff! Owensboro and Pulaski are clearly BGs prime competition, but Fern Creek to me is the clear dark horse in this thing, as they are completely new to 5A and having been in the spin cycle of 6A all these years really is an unknown. PeteW has promoted them, but no one else really. They have some good athletes and I could see them making a real run in John Hardin's old spot.

Pulaski is on top of the mountain until someone knocks them off in 5A!

If I was a coach, fan or player in Class 5A I would be watching Fern Creek. I have a strong suspicion they are going to take the class by storm in the playoffs. You heard it here first.

I can see them getting to the semi-finals against BG or O and then we'll see what happens. Not sure where that game would be played?

Only part I disagree with is BG is BG again. High rate of turnovers is still alarming and not BG standard. Turnovers give anyone a chance at the win. 5A is still anyones game right now.

 

Owensboro's defense is impressive to say the least. Can they form a strong offense to match?

 

BG's linebackers and secondary are excellent. Can they seal up that defensive front and clean up the offensive discipline?

 

And Highlands??? What will HHS become?

 

These are things that the regular season is for so as time progresses I guess we will see who dials it in and who does not. I have not gotten to watch Pulaski so I apologize for a lack of knowledge on what I hear to be a very good team. Sure wish JH was still in 5A. I will miss getting the chance to have excellent playoff matches against them. I loved playing them. Wouldn't mind having SW too! Oh what a class that would be. Be some fun fun games. A guy can dream.

That would be excellent. Those semi final games were incredible. I will definitely start paying more attention to them!

I want to hear the reasons too as I am ignorant to what Pulaski has. I know they returned everyone from their state team last year but am curious of more in depth reasoning as to why this year.

Great question! Some say they should be there now, but I would assume that in 4 years when they look at realignment again that South Warren would almost definitely move to 5A due to the population growth in that area of the county.

South Warren is already the biggest school in Warren County. They will probably have 6A numbers before the next realignment. Skipping 5A altogether. Their plan all along!

BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! They best schedule BG. I want that game. It will be my only Christmas wish in 4 years. If they continue their program on an uptrend it would make one heck of a crosstown rival. Im tired of the what ifs. I want to see the actual results of BG and SW meeting.
