Doubletake1906, you sir, have been misinformed. South Warren was given multiple dates to choose from for a home and home series in '15 and '16. For reasons known only to SWHS, they chose to decline. After BGHS had all contracts in hand for 2015-16, the Rafferty's Bowl idea was floated for one year only. Given that the contracts had been signed and the change would revolve around all four schools agreeing to change the game schedules, it could not be worked out.

 

South Warren has a great team and will likely win 4A. Coach Smith does an outstanding job and is now, and will be, one of the top coaches in this state for decades to come. I do not outline the scheduling information to knock SWHS or Coach Smith. I am just tired of hearing rumor that is far from the truth.

 

The success of neither team revolves around playing one another, so it is understandable from a competitive reasoning that they might not play. It is insane from a financial point of view that they are not opponents. I feel confident that SWHS would have made much more money at the gate playing BGHS rather than Apollo, Central Hardin, North Hardin, or Pope John Paul.

 

Best of luck to both programs. I think the goals of both staffs are far beyond being the best in town.

Pulaski and BG have different schedules so that shouldn't make much of a difference in the rankings. Did BG beat a team that was ranked higher than them? If not, then why does it matter, shouldn't they beat them anyway?

 

THIS good sir just stripped you of a majority of your credibility in your argument. I honestly cannot believe you went the direction of "schedule shouldn't really matter".

What a beautiful sight that crowd would be. I like that it is being put off, builds the anticipation. I just hope it doesn't happen and it be a down year for one of the teams. Boy would that suck after all the exciting build up. This needs to be a clash of the titans type event and that sirs is what I am crossing my fingers for!

It really only makes a huge difference when both teams have similar schedules. It's hard to say Pulaski wouldn't beat Owensboro for example if they don't play them etc. same as any team.

 

You brought up Ohio State as an example. Are you saying they shouldn't be #1 because they don't have Alabama in their schedule?

Ahh...I see where you are going. That does make more sense, and I agree that schedule does not crown the champion. However, as DF said what then do we use to rank teams until the Championship game is played?

When 2 teams have the same record and one team plays 4-5 good teams while the other plays 2 I am going to rank the one with the harder schedule higher. Its as simple as that. They don't have to have common opponents.

I didn't mean to come across saying schedules don't matter at all. My view is that why should Pulaski not be #1 to begin with? I love BG. Great program. At the same time I think Pulaski didn't do anything since winning state that deserved to have them drop from the top spot.

 

That is what I've been trying to say. BG is great team. Pulaski however hasn't done anything worthy of being dropped from top spot is my point.

I guess your going to keep looking at it however you need to to get the result you need no matter what anyone else says. I'm not changing my mind and BGP probably won't either unless BG loses another game.

Bowling Green has beaten 3 teams better than anyone PC has beaten and still has to play Warren Central, Central Hardin, and McCracken so get your popcorn out and root away. I'll have to wait for Southwest Pulaski since PC only has a 2 game schedule and already lost 1 of them.

I think you have a good argument that Pulaski should have been ranked above Bowling Green to start the season. Once Pulaski lost by more than 3 TD's to Scott County, they should have dropped below BG. Now, with both teams having a lopsided loss, you have to look at other games. That is where I believe the Owensboro win pushes BG over Pulaski County. Looking at the schedules, if BG keeps winning they are going to stay ahead of Pulaski. Pulaski doesn't have any top shelf opponent left to play that would give them a signature win and push them past BG.

We can talk about who has the better win. That obviously goes to BG because Owensboro is better than Jeffersonville. With that said, they also hold the worse loss between the two. Scott County would beat X by 2-3 scores minimum right now IMO.
