I can see them getting to the semi-finals against BG or O and then we'll see what happens. Not sure where that game would be played?

 

If Fern Creek plays anyone from Region I (Bowling Green, Owensboro, etc.) the game would be out west.

If I was a coach, fan or player in Class 5A I would be watching Fern Creek. I have a strong suspicion they are going to take the class by storm in the playoffs. You heard it here first.

 

With John Hardin dropping to 4A, no one in that region really stands out, so Fern Creek could put together a nice run.

BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! They best schedule BG. I want that game. It will be my only Christmas wish in 4 years. If they continue their program on an uptrend it would make one heck of a crosstown rival. Im tired of the what ifs. I want to see the actual results of BG and SW meeting.

5A is a really interesting class this year.

 

Pulaski has it going but I would like to see them up their regular season schedule one more level.

I will admit, I said early on that none of (Pulaski, Bowling Green, Highlands) would win the 5A title, but I surely wasnt expecting Fern creek to be a contender.

Coach Wallace has asked publicly and privately for this game to be scheduled, but it's a no from South Warren. It's my understanding that Coach Smith doesn't want this game. I'm sure he has his reasons, but I can't think of a good one!

Very interesting. I personally (and this is opinion only) think that may be smart. It would be non-district and a game that really does not matter in the big scheme of things.

 

If you are Coach Smith, allow the program to continue to grow and develop, establish a winning history, THEN schedule big non-district games. Some may not agree with this approach but I surely could understand it. SW continues doing what they are doing they will have the history of success and be a highly respected program.

 

When the time comes (and it will) I along with Purple88, will have my massive purple glasses on watching the new rivalry commence.

I'm not sure that is true Smith said he would play 1st game of year Raffertys Bowl and I believe Wallace said no we will play you game 10 and Smith said no .

Many times in these rankings there are several schools that get the benefit of the doubt due to their history.

5A is no different.

 

BG has been ranked #1 in your rankings I believe every week. BG, great program but still they didn't win it all last year. Pulaski who did win it last year and who returned just about their entire team from the championship team is still put behind them. BG got throttled in a game while Pulaski's lone loss came to the hands of probably the best team outside the big 3 in Louisville in 6A. Not only did Pulaski play SC but also hung with them through most of the game.

 

BG is ranked #1 because of what they did 2-4 years ago. The team that has done nothing to deserve to be anything other than #1 has been stuck behind history instead of present day team.

 

It happens a lot. Look at Highlands for example, look where they have been ranked in 5A starting with pre season...they get the benefit of the doubt due to history and nothing to do with the actual team they have on the field this year. Even through 3 weeks of the season they are still getting the benefit of the doubt and this after only having 1 win.

 

It happens, certain schools get ranked high simply based on what they have done in the past and has nothing to do with what they have done the current year.

 

Pulaski is the reigning state champions and especially knowing the fact that they brought everyone back I think it's a slap in the face to Pulaski to have them ranked anywhere else but #1

 

It reminds me of an earlier BGP Rankings for NKY after week 1 and Cooper handed Highlands the worst beating they have had in I don't know how long yet Highlands was still ranked ahead of Cooper the next week. These rankings have more to do with memory lane than reality boulevard.

So it's ok for Pulaski to use "recent" history to attain #1 , but not ok for BG to use "past" history to be #1 . The fact is BG has the best win in 5A against a solid top 3 if not top 2 Owensboro. I'm glad Pulaski scheduled and played well against Scott County because that's about all they will face in the regular season (save the Southwestern District Game). History is history and this year is this year. Through 4 weeks of THIS year BG #1 .

I do agree with you about the Cooper v Highlands ranking though.
