The fact that this is the 123rd meeting between these two rivals is just marvalous. You gotta expect it to be all Tigers in this one. I'm hoping the Green Devils can get fired-up and make it a great game.

If the Pioneers run the table and win the 6A title, going thru X & T convincingly in the process, then a case could be made.

I have never seen so much encouragement pour in from all around the state regarding a victory by one of our own vs an out of state big boy. This win will undoubtledly be talked about for years to come. Interestingly, last week it was Ashland, a likely opponent for Highlands down the road.

I hope Quarterback Bardo is not too banged-up and can return soon. Same goes for the Bomber who went off in the ambulance. If both St. Xavier & Highlands were to run the table for respective state championships, that would put HHS pretty close to the top in national rankings.

Sounds like the Highlands defense had an awsome first half. And thier O also moved the ball. Another strong first half by the Birds against a Cincinnati power. Two points alone won't win it, but they may be pivital. Thanks for posting the updates.

I'll be hanging around my PC checking updates. Does anyone know if its on radio? If St.X can keep it close, I might run out to a bar to see the delay.

To my knowledge, the Colonels have never lost a state championship game. That late in the season, it gets dark early. Where do they practice, in the gym? I know that in late November, it is common to see the lights on at David Cecil Memorial well into the evening. Having lights would seem as beneficial as having a turf field. You know the light divides the day, so break on through to the other side.

A few years ago Columbus Desales put the biggest home loss on Highlands that anyone cares to remember. The big difference in the game was the unstoppable offensive line surge of DeSales. In their losses to Cincinnati Powers, Highlands has often hung around for a while, and even lead at the half against Moeller & Elder. I praise the Birds for their fearless scheduling. They will be ready, and will give it their all, and there is nothing wrong with being humled in the process.

Congrats Tomcats. It sounds likely that you may face the Bluebirds down the line. Good luck!

Great first half execution by Highlands. Bardo was so trapped for a safety, it was amazing to see him step out of trouble and turn up field for the first down. The Birds were flagged for 15 about three times, and several on-target balls were dropped. By this stage in the season, I'm suprised to see these problems. Mr. Charles Q for the Rebels is truely a great running back. The huge crowd made for a great atmosphere. IMO, the TD celebration music is pretty dorky, but the loud horns are a suitable replacement to the boom.

Its great to see loads of interest in this interstate rivaly. I'm pulling hard for Ashland Blazer and hopefully I will get a chance to see them if they travel to Ft. Thomas come play-off time.

Both programs have struggled lately. I'd like to see the Green Devils pull off the upset.

I am saddened by the entire situation, and did not read the many newspaper reports. Hopefully all parties are able to move on from this tragedy, and no civil suit with follow. Finally, coaches nationwide are much more likely now to closely monitor the use hard training and use it to achieve conditioning as opposed to a method of punishment.

The Indians had a strong showing as they were edged by Beechwood. You have to admire how they are going after tough opponents like Conner. Cougars by 20.

Should be an opportunity for the Birds to run their offence and light-up the board.

I'm expecting a close one with lots of scoring, similar to the Bellvue/Scott and Beechwood/Holy Cross games last week. Edge to Camels.

Agree that this is one of the more interesting games this week. Holy Cross obviously gave Beechwood all that they could handle. CovCath is progressing nicely vs good competition. This game has a rich history and CovCath has the edge this year.

Unfortunate mis-que for Indians. They had the 7 point lead and the ball with 1:30 to play and fumbled it away inside their 10 to give the Tigers life.
