Can someone add the series record, it seems every year Ironton, OH wins, just curious of the past tradition for these two teams head to head.

Ashland held the series lead for a long time, but Ashland hasn't won since 1990. I think Ironton probably leads, and I'm just guessing here, something like 35-21 in the series.

Ashland will fair better then Ironton this year because of the awesome D. Ashland wins 16-14 over Ironton.

This year is Ashland's best chance to win since their '05 team (which lost by 1-point). I think the '09 defense is better than it's been in a long time. Some one compared it to the JAWs defenses of the 70's. I think that may have been Mark Maynard on the telecast.

 

It's at Putnam and that helps too.

 

If the Tomcats can get this win; they will ensure they are always remembered.

I won't predict a winner in this game, I hope Ashland can win it, but no matter who wins, I expect this to be a great game. Maybe it will rain Friday and they can move it to Saturday:D, then I can see it.

As good as the Tomcats are this year on defense. Ironton seems to have a very strong D also. Some of the Russell fans I have talked to says Ironton was by far the strongest and hard hitting team they have faced. Slow down! If the Tomcats Defense is as good as the jaws defense of the 70's, the Tomcats will win this one big. Knowing that there is no way that their defense is that good (the jaws D probably didnt give up 20 points all year, let alone 20 to Belfry), Ill have to say Ironton wins this one in a close one.

Ashland needs to win the battle up front and if they do, they can win. Nice to see the Tomcats back on the prowl again.

According to IrontonFootball.com, Ironton leads the overall series 42-28-3. Ironton has won the last 17 meetings between the schools, with Ashland's last win coming in their 1990 state championship season.

 

While Ashland is fielding one of their better teams this year, Ironton is doing the same. Ashland does have a lot of speed and quickness on the field along with the power of Alber. Ironton has a lot of everything on the field at every position. Ashland won't face another team this good until they get to Highlands in the playoffs. This is a great test to see if Ashland can compete in their class.

I'm pulling hard for Ashland in this one. I love to see anyone get a win over Ironton. I just don't think it's gonna happen though.

I'd love to see the Tomcats win this one. And homefield will be an advantage, but I don't think that Ashland can keep it within 2 TD's without some lucky bounces. Good luck Cats.

Ironton may be a better team over all, but when friday rolles around great teams can fall to good teams any giving night. You can't measure a man's heart when him and 10 other guys want it more. I welcome Ironton in the putnam to see if they have what it takes. I hate to say it but the past ain't going to buy you a cup of coffee game night.
