  1. Any word on Cory Compton? He has not played in 4th quarter.
  2. Ball is brought back. 3rd & 6 for Ryle. HHS picks-off Ryle pass. Birds moving at Ryle 24.
  3. After a sack by the Birds, Ryle quick kicks on 3rd to pin HHS back on their 20. A scuffle on the field with lots of flags.
  4. Compton goes in from the one. HHS 26 - 14. 5 min in 3rd.
  5. Long completion to Sheehan at the Ryle 20. Birds about to score.
  6. Birds up 19 - 14 and HHS has it at thier 20 with 8 min left in the 3rd.
  7. JC's running attack was quite impressive in the playoffs last season. If they return many players, any opponent should be concerned about stopping them. Sounds like Boyle's D is ready for the early challenge though. I didn't see Boyle last year, but wish I had the chance to see them and Rees. Do the Rebels have a prolific RB of his likeness this year? By the way, can anyone say where Rees is going to school and playing ball this year?
  8. Even in the pre-season, the Birds are able to put up big offensive numbers on an equally storied opponent. Highlands defense will have to tackle much better to slow down Manual, particularly if they have guys who can play like Mr. 17!
  9. You gotta love this high scoring battle between two class outfits. It was well worth T's trip north to learn about their defensive issues. I think the HHS defense will be fine. With all of H's DB's healthy, T's #17, who is a great one, and only a sophmore, may not have run quite as wild as he did tonight. HHS had one big play off the screen, but it looked to there all night, just had difficulty connecting. Offensively, both teams are ready to light it up. HHS kicking game looks great. I understand that T is loaded with sophmore talent. My guess is that in December, HHS & T will each have 20.
  10. Jeepers! Mayfield must have a really good team. Many expected a good game. No one was predicting a rout. Congrats to both Beechwood & Mayfield.
  11. HHS is already playing up a class. Enrollment wise, they are a small 4A school. They will win the first three 5A titles ever in Ky, and their 19th title overall. But like the great streaks of Beechwood & Boyle County, they cannot go on forever without a down year. PC & JC will keep on with their hard work and one year will find themselves in the finals. Just not in 2009.
  12. What a great defensive game. Only one TD each. Congrats to both teams. Good Luck Boyle County Rebels.
  13. Welcome to NKY PC, & congrats on your best ever season. When you see HHS line-up on the field, you will not be impressed with size. But when their first one or two drives end up in TD's after only 3 or 4 plays, you will share the feeling of many HHS opponents this time of year. Just stay cool and play your game. JC tied it up in the 2nd quarter, showing lots of guts and character. This HHS team ranks among their best ever, so buckle it on tight and bring your best effort. Since I'm not going to Danville, or Mayfield for either of those great games, I'm going to be in Ft.Thomas for this great game. Good luck.
  14. I would love to be able to see this one. Will it be streaming on the web? I hope the weather is good, and they play on a dry field. Since its at Boyle, I guess that does increase the chances of it not being too muddy. Congrats to both clubs on your success this season and good luck to each of you in this titanic match-up.
  15. Awsome win for the Birds. JC is quite impressive at their running attack. I understand they are young and only lose a few key guys. Towles is doing great and he will be one of the best ever before he is finished at HHS. He really had to be focused and showed some quick reflexes handling the snaps from center. Congrats JC on a fine game. Good luck Bluebirds. Number 19 is your's to hatch.
  16. Just like back in the late nineties, a really good class A team carries the hopes of highschool football fans from Campbell County to get past Beechwood and make it to the semi's. Then it was Dayton, who I believe, had they defeated Beechwood, would have won state. This time, I'm not as sure about Bellevue's chances of winning the title, but man they had a great season and made many folks east of the Licking proud. But Beechwood is still Beechwood, and that means great football achievement. So good luck Red Tigers, I'm counting on you to bring another crown back to Northern Ky.
  17. Big J earns a date in The Fort. The Colonels have a lot to look forward to next year.
  18. At the start of the season, it took Breathitt about 4 games to score 60 points. Nice turnaround Bobcats!
  19. I would love to see things turn around for Wildcat football. Covington Holmes has its swings of up & down. Now with an experienced & dedicated, yet bright & young coach, the Bulldogs are enjoying their best team in two decades. The situation at NHS is similar to that of Holmes. Hopefully, the right kind of spirited leadership that is dedicated to the wellbeing of the young men, will come in, or emerge from within, and instill the fire to work hard, be competitive and succeed.
  20. Great season by the Bulldogs. Coach Steve Lickert has turned the program around and competing in 4A is a great fit for Holmes. Good luck 'Dawgs, you're going up against the best opponent you have faced, by far.
