  1. Who is Schroder? I've never heard of their program.
  2. I didn't see the entire game, but was there enough to see some nice talent in the younger classes. I thought Ian McGurn ran the ball extremely well today. Jason Waldemeyer played very solid on the D-line and Ben Lofland also had a good day on defense, with the exception of the personnel foul, which I'm sure he will be reminded of during films. Our prayers go out to the young man and his coaches and teammates injured from Withrow. If anyone has updates please let us know.
  3. ANOTHER nice win for the Birds tonight. I'm not sure what everyone wants, this team is 4-0 against top competition. Get off the kids backs! This team will continue to improve. The offense moved the ball up and down the field and the defense held tough by not giving up any points. Nice TEAM win!
  4. I'm not sure it's HHS fans predicting the blowouts. It could be non-fans predicting the blowouts knowing full well at times the players get on here and read the posts. Hopefully the majority of the players stay focused and take it one game at a time. I've seen the tape and Withrow does have play makers like you've mentioned.
  5. I'll take a 28 point win with an offense working on new things and a defense with a few banged up players anyday.
  6. Hey, I could care less about the sound system. The facilities at Ryle are great. Buy a program and watch the game. You can look up the players names and numbers as you need. I've always enjoyed attending games at their field.
  7. With the way players train year round, there's no doubt most are leaner and in better shape. I've recently seen kids drop 20 -30 pounds during the off-season and come back looking totally different with greater strength. Plus, there's so many off-season clinics and trainers out there to monitor the progress of each individual. This is something that wasn't around in my day. As for the height of players, well there's not much they can do about that. Either you're going to have it or not.
  8. I echo your comment 35Bird. He was a great scout to the varsity program for many years as well as being a very successful frosh head coach.
  9. Justin Johnson. The players and coaches refer to him as JJ.
  10. Congratulations to the Mustangs on your first win! Also, I commend all the players who have stuck with the program. Nice job!:thumb:
  11. I know one pitcher that's coming back after a few years away because of football. He's "not" a household name, but was the best pitcher on the JV squad as a Freshman.
  12. Captains for 2009 were selected this morning. All of these young men have shown leadership throughout their careers at HHS. It's a great honor and they should be congratulated for the way they conduct themselves on and off the football field. Best of luck to you and your teammates this season! They are: Will Bardo Tyler Combs Austin Collinsworth Cameron Dierig Brandon Roller Hunter Schlosser
  13. I'm sure Towles has worked hard. Good for him. Barto is actually Bardo and let the team get through 2009 before they worry about 2010.
  14. Typical scrimmage in my opinion. However, the Birds starting O, D, and special teams looked to be ready to go. The substitutions were many which you won't find during the regular season. But it was a good measuring stick for the entire squad. Keep working boys! Everyone can get better!:thumb:
  15. James Jones and Hunter Jones are NOT brothers.
  16. I know nothing about Conner's defense, but going against Highlands defense day after day will only improve Bardo's skills. Not to mention his skills are already very very good!
  17. Wasn't there a young man by the last name Barringer in the early 90's that went to UK? I'm not sure he played all 4 years, but I remember seeing him on the roster a few years.
  18. Like many of us, you sound if as you've got great memories from playing at HHS. Please come around and introduce yourself. It's great to watch practice and swap stories about the old days.
  19. Dale likes to get his O-line set early and the rest fall where they may. Snyder moved into Ft. Thomas late winter early spring. He is a senior. Beck has put on some weight and should be plenty big enough for tackle. Welz has been getting alot of work at TE.
  20. Michael his family and teammates are in our prayers.
  21. It appears the O-line is set with Combs at center, Schlosser and Snyder (sp) at guards, Grubbs and Beck at the tackles.
  22. Let's just hope this doesn't drag into the season. That can only be accomplished by the KHSAA and school doing their homework!
