They were on the field today and will be there on Wednesday and Friday this week. They'll follow the same schedule next week. Intrasquad scrimmages are scheduled for both Friday's.

The intensity picked up today at their practice. The coaches were more vocal than the previous 2 practices. I assume it's in preparation for tomorrow's inter squad scrimmage.

Not to me. I think you get the ball in the hands of your best player as many times as possible. Moving him to RB accomplishes this thought.

After two days of practice, that is the position he's playing. I doubt it will change.

You won't get a complaint from me on the BOK Arena. I attended two games of the girls regional. The parking is great. The walk from the parking lot is short. It sure beats finding parking on side streets at some of the local high schools.

Although there's a 2009 Highlands thread ongoing, I thought I get one going solely for spring practice. Some observations after two days; 6 QB's working on footwork and a variety of throws. Bardo is looking great, I guess the others are battling for the backup positions. It just seemed unusual to see 6, but it is only spring practice. I don't recall seeing a HHS team with as many lineman as they have up there this year. The numbers look good and so does the size with a few exceptions. Although, those without size look strong and quick. With 3 returners on the O-line (Schlosser, Combs and Grubbs) there should be big time battles for the other two positions. I've never seen a team pass and dish the ball the way Boone Co. did last night. Great game and good luck to the Rebels. To the Lady Birds, great season I enjoyed watching you play this year.

I haven't seen it, but it might not have the 4 or 5 basketball players on it yet. Just my guess!

I'll admit I don't attend many of the boys games, but I was impressed last night with the HHS fan support. The student section was crowded and loud. I even ran into several parents of former students. Unfortunately in the second half there wasn't much to cheer about. NCC played great and took the game over in the second half. I thought HHS really lacked floor leadership. I kept waiting for someone to step up, but it never happened.

I think he's playing the "underdog" card. He did this during the playoffs last season. Believe me, they were athletic, fast and well coached. I don't think that will change this season. If they lacked anything it was a kicking game.

Johnson Central will not surprise anyone. They're going to be very good again! They have very good skilled players back for the 09 season. Many of them were Sophomores and Juniors last year.

I see the backup QB position at HHS next season to be in question. Based on comments tonight, there will be competition at that position. They'll be 3 in the mix for the position next season.

I have a nephew playing at Brossart and loves it. The wins are there yet, but according to him the coaches, players and adminstration are working very hard. The District which they play is challenging to say the least. I know they've begun an off-season team weights program and it's been very successful in regards to the number of players that are showing up. I'd love to see them get their first win this season!!!!

Jack, everything you listed except imploding the field are exactly what the Coach has planned for the field and it's condition.:thumb:

The money approved is for Coach Baioni to purchase much needed materials and equipment to improve the fields playing conditions. He along with the City's Rec. Director are working on details for short and long term needs at the facility. Yes, the city has a responsibility to the field, which I'm sure they're going to continue to honor. Coach Baioni is very pleased and ready to go.................

Last night the HHS Athletic Boosters approved $$ to upgrade the field the baseball uses for practice and games. This is another step in the right direction for the program.

I knew it wouldn't take long for "Jack" to respond to the comment:D Like him or not, Mr. Schlarman is the head coach right now. The support should be for the players of the program(s) anyway. Good Luck Birds:thumb:

The D-line will be just fine next year. It will have a nice combination of speed, size, and quickness.
