  1. I agree. Not bad for a relatively new program to step out of the box and play one of the better programs lately in the state. I give the coaches and players alot of credit for stepping up to take on this challenge. JC is not the easiest places to play. Best of luck to the players and coaches the rest of the season.
  2. The Birds have an explosive offense and will put points on the score board. The defense will come around quickly. I recall last year at this time folks were worried about the defense, but they came around very early in the season to be outstanding all year. Keep working and be mentally prepared for practice all week to get better. Now is when it counts anyway. Birds 42 - 21
  3. My daughter cheered. They had tryouts, camps, off-season training, and were required to maintain grades like all other sport to participate. I would consider it a sport.
  4. Schlosser and Dierig were both first team all-conference. The other three are very good football players and I'm sure they'll play their hearts out. Congratulations to all those playing in this game.
  5. I have a nephew that played for him and then played against him. That's unusual. I just played against him.
  6. I think he prefers playing with his hand on the ground. This allows him to use his speed and quick hands to get off blocks. The HHS defense was solid with the states best Linebacker in Brandon Roller and the two corners (Bruns and Abner) playing practically perfect all season. All 11 played selfless and flew to the ball all season.
  7. Yes, Coach Huber (Hubie) is still there. You're correct, he's very passionate about the program, players and college.
  8. I thought it said "mamawanna":D Just joking :sssh: I hope the 2010 groups can say Best Ever Again:thumb:
  9. Not sure if it's a secret, but I agree with it.:thumb:
  10. No matter what happened leading up to this event, it's a true tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt's family, friends and teammates.
  11. Tyler Combs will be attending Thomas More College next year to play football. Congratulations to Tyler and his family. Tyler's a very hard worker on and off the field. Best of luck to you.:thumb:
  12. Congrats to Hunter and his entire family. Best of luck to you! It was not only a pleasure coaching you in the FTJFL, it was fantastic watching you play for the Birds.:thumb:
  13. That's good to hear. We've seen Brendan and his Dad at church over the past few months. Wish nothing but the best for him. I look for him and Austin Abner to be the leaders of that swarming HHS Defense this year.:thumb:
  14. Best of luck to you Alex. Congrats!:thumb: Brescia is a great school.
  15. Very, very true. Best of luck to you #5.:thumb:
  16. I know from a reliable resource he's really been working hard and will get a shot to take over one of the 3 open d-line spots.
  17. You can't build a team at the courthouse. Yes, they did great with Benson. I really like the way he plays. It's one thing to plug a questionable background player into a solid team, but you cannot have a locker room full of them. Oh, 13-3 will never happen, but I love the dedication to your team!!!!
  18. I played at Turner's as a boy and made sure my son experienced a few games there himself. I always love the Christmas Tournament they held each year. I don't think there's another gym around where you have to walk through a bar to get into the gym:thumb:.
  19. It was a good time to get rid of the tickets because of the demand. One or two semi winning seasons didn't cut it for me. Guess you could say I waited looooong enough for them to put a decent product on the field annually. They don't have to go to the Super Bowl every year, but I wanted to see a conscious effort to field the best teams possible. This didn't seem to me like it was ever going to happen as long as the current owner continued to run the team as he has.
