The Birds have there first intersquad scrimmage today. What a great day for football, 50 degrees and sunny. The Birds do more live hitting in these 10 days than they do all summer up until games start.

Great day of scrimmage. Lots of bright spots and some decent hitting going on. Some guys looked like they havent missed a beat since December and the young guys are coming along nicely. The scouts were even there today from a Louisville school. Not sure who they were but they were taking lots of notes and pictures. I guess Dale doesnt mind these guys coming and going. Highlands need a BirdCop to check the credentials of these people. I nominate Henry to do the dirty work. You know everything is top secret up there at Highlands and we certainly wouldnt want the koolaid recipe to be stolen. Maybe Henry could deputized Leatherneck and Familytradition to write citations. I was ready to pounce but heard they were there last year so whoever they were , they were not all that effective so I figured it was safe to leave them be. Trust me, there was must discussion about them and it was not all positive.

Well I just heard from a very reliable source that they are friendly. Apparently it was Coach Cotton of Taylor County. Coach Cotton was the Defensive coord of LCA last yr that lead his defense to the State Championship. If HHS remembers it was Coach Cotton and others that met with Dale and Coach Weinreich last yr to go over a new defensive scheme. Since then, and a State Championship later, Coach Cotton is now the head coach of Taylor County HS and was apparently just back for some more in Ft. Thomas. Cotton was O.C. at LCA but you got the gist. Looking at the defense and still friendly.

Believe it or not since Highlands won the Championship in 2008 LCA coaches have visited with Highlands in the winter to meet about schemes, in the off-season to watch the conditioning program, in the spring to watch spring practice, and to at least one or two summer practices. Coach Mueller and Coach Weinrich have been very gracious and helpful in their dealings with LCA. Believe it or not they don't think they have a secret formula as far as scheme and drills. Their secret formula is committment and hard work, which they know only a select few teams will buy into. Therefore they are not scared to share with those willing to listen. You all have a great staff, great kids, and in my opninion are the model program in KY.

The Dressman kid is a stud. He is a Jr to be LB that will flat out knock your head off. I could see him Sullivan, Huddleston and Quillen being nasty good linebacker core for the Birds. 20n10

And for the record Iam just echoing what Familytradition thinks as well. I think he knows a good LB or two when he sees one.
