I take it he's done with The Horsemen?

My vote is for "Daddy" Wags!!! But I have no vote! LOL!

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who's a New Cath grad. He said he had heard rumblings a few weeks back about talking to Mike Woolf were Coach Schneider to retire.

Woolf started off coaching at New Cath...but I think it would be a tough sell to get him to take the job. He makes far more money than the average diocesan teacher in his position at Ryle, and even though he'd be making a move up in taking a head coaching position at an already successful program, he's already living out in Union and working as defensive coordinator with a very solid 6A program.

One small twist is the fact that he played football under New Cath's principal, Bob Noll, but I think Bob would have to scrape a fair share of cabbage together to get Mike interested in the head coach job.

Or NCC could go with someone like Bob Crable where money would not be an issue.

Now that would certainly be a strong move. Has he been coaching anywhere since Moeller?

Whoever it is, Schneider will have a say in it. Since Wagner does not teach in the school, I believe that that will hinder his opportunity for the job. I believe that whoever is hired will have to be at the school. Not necessarily a teacher, but employed there during school hours.

Pls clarify this. You mean Crable doesnt need the money? Because NCC certainly doesnt have it to pay a big time coach thats for sure. Very different than the Kenton Cty Catholics. :thumb: 20n10

My vote is for Edward Eviston :thumb:

Does Eviston have any coaching experience?

I dont think any head coaching experience. But thats why you surround yourself with good coaches who have been around the block a few times. The obvious choices for head coach is either Schneider's son Dave or Wagner and both are probably well deserving of it because of their tenure. But maybe just maybe the best recipe for NCC to move forward is to put a young gun in charge that has competed and won as a player at both hs and college level and basically go ahead and surround himself with experienced guys. Ed is the type of guy that is dedicated to the NCC family that would perhaps be the next 40 plus yr guy. :thumb:20n10.

According to Ernst, unless NCC is granted a one year exemption, Dave doesn't have the credit hours to become a head coach.

Eddie Eviston is the best candidate for the job. Look at his resume, a New Cath graduate, was a three sport standout athlete. Recieved ''That's my boy award''. Earned a Scholarship to Georgetown Ky, where he Quarterbacked three (NAIA) National Championships teams and was also named ''National Player of the year" award 2 years in a row. Drafted by the KC City Chiefs. Went to the Arena football league won a championship in that league. I had even heard that he QB 4 undefeated superbowl championship teams when he played youth football in ''NKYFL'', for the Firefighters and was inducted into the NKYFL Hall of fame. Needless to say he may know a little about the game. First class individual, excellent Role model and has a good repore with the players. Good luck Thoroughbreds! I hope he's the next in line!
