  1. It would not be hard to believe that any of the schools listed as having offered Pike were doing so based on his size, athleticism, and speed....Truth is, they might not care if he ever throws a football again in his life. He may very well project as a TE or DE in college. I doubt any of his offers are dead set on him being a QB since none of the Teams offering have ever seen him play QB against a decent team in Varsity action. If people will remember, Derek Smith had some big time offers very early, but nobody knew exactly for what position for sure until he was a Senior. Could be the same for young Mr. Pike.
  2. only one of the three QB's mentioned has a Championship ring. He also did it as a sophmore to boot. Towles has the size, speed, intelligence and work ethic that D1 coaches love. He also has two years under Lorenzen's tutelage to become one of the best QB's to ever play in KY, let alone the NKY area. Mark it down.....He will become a VERY good QB over the next two years and will play somewhere BIG in College. He happens to be a great young man to go along with it all. JMO.:thumb:
  3. I've heard of another Current NKY assistant coach that Chris has offered a assistant job to on the defensive side of the ball....anyone else hearing of any other offers or hires for his new staff?
  4. Uh, oh, looks like things could get even more interesting in the Ville in 6A. Chris is a great coach.
  5. Cooperstown, Why would the Mitchell's decision to send their son to HHS shock anyone. They had a falling out with Covcath for one reason or another. Covcath is arguably one of the best schools in NKY. When they decided to sent him to another school, for whatever reason, why then would they not want to sent him to another fine academic and athletic institution. It would seem to me that alot of people are trying to become the thought police when it comes to trying to tell a parent what is best for their child. In the Mitchell's case, they thought it best to move to Ft. Thomas and send their child to HHS. That was their decision and who is anybody on this website to question what they thought was right for their child? JMO.
  6. You could give em some more of your money Sweep! I'm sure they would appreciate it!
  7. Any kid that attends a game and gets the full recruitment weekend thrown on them at ND will come away blown away by the ND experience...There are not many other places and traditions in college football like it. They still know how to recruit and I can only think Kelly will make it even better. BTW, I absolutely HATE ND and believe me, I shouldn't as my first cousin played there and was amongst the best to ever play there. I just bleed UK Blue and hope Miles makes the right decision and goes to KY.
  8. Don't worry Thunder, I can get some ND tickets (good ones at that). Only problem is you would probably have to travel with the Mayor.
  9. I like it already.....#2 in the nation and the #1 Public school in the Nation....not bad for a bunch of small town boys from Kentucky!
  10. There is not one team, in the entire country that would not take the title of "National Champions" if they were so named by USA TODAY. NOT ONE! It's a huge accomplishment and the most widely recognized ranking system, albeit not a perfect one by any means. Coming in 2nd in the nation would be a huge accomplishment for any HS team in any year. We, as Kentuckians and HS football fans, should just say Congrats and move on. Let the hardworking young men of HHS enjoy something that is exciting and fun and live with it. It is certainly fun to talk about a KY team finnishing in the top 2-3 teams in all of HS football....Go BIRDS!....20n10!
  11. How many of these great teams are ranked above HHS THIS YEAR! That's what I thought! You, and nobody else has any idea WHATSOEVER who is better than who on a national level....The voters of USA TODAY say HHS is the 2nd best team in the nation at this point. It's fun for the school and especially the players and coaches....let em have their glory this year, it won't come very often , and your speculating at best about High School national rankings.
  12. Sweep, Oldguy is generally very diplomatic in his postings toward HHS if I'm not mistaken, but in appears as though he is drinking the water from HHS hate well on this one. Again, I think people are crazy if they really believe CC is going around hyping HHS as the best team in the Country...Like he doesn't have anything better to do or has all the time in the world to do so. AC and HHS have earned some National attention through hard work and preparation. To begrudge them something earned on the field seems a bit petty. I hope Covcath goes on to get some State and National attention soon as it's getting a bit lopsided beating them over and over, 2006 not withstanding of course!
  13. My thoughts exactly Dixie. If you don't know who is now, you will next year. He and Towles will be working very hard together over the next year to get their timing and routes down, as will the other receivers for HHS. Ozzy has afterburners and hands of glue. He will be a factor for HHS next year. He was left off of another thread about next years impact players that will step up for HHS next year, but I think that had to be an oversight, or the poster was just not letting the cat out of the bag about AS because Dale certainly knows of his abilities I asure you.:sssh:
  14. It would matter VERY much to the HHS players and coaches that could Add "NATIONAL CHAMPIONS" to their rings that already say "15-0" and "5A STATE CHAMPS". Who wouldn't want that instead of some old cheap looking Jostens class ring!:ylsuper:
  15. Oldguy, I seriously doubt CC goes around hyping HHS. It's not in his nature to go around bragging about his kid, let alone his team. Most of the attention and talk about HHS on a National broadcast was more than likely his coworkers showing some love without the prompting of CC himself. More likely they just thought it was a neat and fun story about AC and his team. I just don't buy in to the theory that Chris goes around hawking HHS as a High school powerhouse to get his son and his HHS team National exposure for a mythical National Title. Anyone who knows him and his nature would probably confirm this for you.
  16. HHS is a VERY strong program period. You are correct in saying that they probably would struggle with some of the top teams in the largest classes of these schools, but I seriously doubt there are that many teams with the enrollment of HHS that could play with them, let alone beat them regularly in ANY state...A little reminder, once again, HHS plays UP in classification by not one, but TWO classes. Until HS teams play one another, there is no possible way you, or anybody else can tell who has a better team, let alone the better overall program. To say they would stand no chance is a fallacy also. Rarely has HHS been embarrassed when playing larger teams on the biggest stages. They will play more games against some great teams in the future, in sure, and will prove they are worthy of the attention they are getting.
  17. Believe it or not, I thought all along that they would at least get beat if they played another Very good team this year at some point....I watched them twice this year on TV and thought that they often times played as individuals too much and were at times undisciplined on D. Think of some of the teams out of the Ville we have played and beaten and thought, "Man, they sure have some STUD athletes, but they don't play TOGETHER. " That was my impression from watching them. They probably have 10 or more D1's but they don't always have TEAM on their minds....JMO.
  18. Oh boy, I can hear the Blue Birds now. I know we, as HHS fans cannot wait, but It will be even worse than with AC. I think that he will be loving watching his son in a HHS uniform in a couple years.
  19. BTW, who and where is it stated that the Mr. Football award is to go to a player that had a great Senior stat line, instead of a great CAREER. It doesn't, so your argument that his stats from this year dont make him eligible simply don't hold water. I'm not sure of the facts, but I doubt many other nominees for the award are also two time First Team ALL STATE candidates, with another ALL STATE award on the horizon. Just saying.
  20. I respect everyones opinion on here. Really I do. And I never stated that none of the other nominees were not worthy. I simply am pointing out that AC is surely one of, if not THE best 18 Senior football players. Him not being even up for the award makes the award less than what it should be. I also was simply pointing out the fact that he holds offers from a few very good football programs, some with incredible academics to boot. He was not good enough to be nominated for his states biggest football award, yet many D1 coaches want him on their roster, and nobody thinks it's a joke that he was left off the ballot?...O.k. I'm wrong:ohbrother: BTW, why in the world do they even do the nominating BEFORE the State Championships. Anyone care to mention what he did on what was aguably the biggest stage against the best opponent the state had to offer against HHS? That's right, he averaged over 7 yds a carry and had 3TD's.
  21. How would you know T-BIRD?:sssh:
  22. I know some folks that could make that happen, but alas, I doubt that is in the cards. Great Season and greatest Senior class EVER to strap on the headgear at HHS. It can be said now. Congrats Birds.:ylsuper:
  23. NO. I fully get it. And like I said yesterday, the Mr. KY Football award is now cheapened because one of he best, If not THE best was not even nominated. It's far from a slam on the other players. It would probably mean more to the winner if he was on the ballot and they beat him out for the award. I'm not even saying he should have won it, because many other deserving nominees had excellent season, but MR. Football should go to the best Senior Football player. Period. If you folks don't think he is one of the best Senior football players in this great state.....Well, I question your football knowledge. Hurt or not, he still played against a good schedule this year and previous years and PROVED ON THE FIELD that he more than deserves to be, at the very least, on the dang ballot. I truly believe that for all the accolades that so many attribute to his last name, that it actually in fact kept him from getting a nomination. Green is an ugly color in the Bluegrass state, but it reared it's ugly head in this case.
  24. Whatever. Tacky is leaving a kid off the list for the biggest honor his state has to offer because he missed 4 games in a 45 game career in which he was the best player on the field probably every game he played. Besides, his future is probably going to be playing for a D1 school that is one of the very ACADEMIC institutions to boot....How many on that list of 18 can honestly say that. Not many, if any. The truth hurts, and is never tacky.:idunno:
  25. GREAT reward for a young man who has worked extremely hard and deserves this honor. I guess some informed people actually know talent when it is presented to them, unlike some of the less informed voters for the Mr. Kentucky award. Anyways, AC has bigger and better things to look forward to than almost all of the other 18 candidates...State Championships, another ring, Army All American game, etc......Oh, and choosing between UK, UC, Louisville(GOD, please no!), Vandy, Stanford, Harvard. Hope he has a good pair of sunglasses. Oh well, I guess AC will quickly get over being spurned when he has to choose between some of the best academic institutions on earth or playing in the SEC. It's good to be the King.
