The money approved is for Coach Baioni to purchase much needed materials and equipment to improve the fields playing conditions. He along with the City's Rec. Director are working on details for short and long term needs at the facility. Yes, the city has a responsibility to the field, which I'm sure they're going to continue to honor. Coach Baioni is very pleased and ready to go.................
Last night the HHS Athletic Boosters approved $$ to upgrade the field the baseball uses for practice and games. This is another step in the right direction for the program.
Heard Liggens was in the doghouse after he didn't hustle on the court Saturday against Vandy. And of course his ball handling skills are not up to speed. He could get away with those things in H.S., but the SEC. Learn or Leave Liggens................
I knew it wouldn't take long for "Jack" to respond to the comment:D Like him or not, Mr. Schlarman is the head coach right now. The support should be for the players of the program(s) anyway. Good Luck Birds:thumb:
Off the top of my head I can only think of 5 players that don't play other sports, Daily's (2), Rizzo, Liggett and Sainola. All 5 of these players play baseball through the Fall. I'm only thinking of Varsity players however.
Congratulations to the CATS. Well done by all the players and coaches. I said earlier this year that their D-line may be the best in the SEC and I still believe that to be the case. Nothing is better for recruiting than to be invited to a Bowl game and come away as winners. This will continue to add depth to the roster.
The stage may have been a little to big for both Kelly and Pike last night. It's all happened very quick for them. I'm sure they all learned alot about the BCS last night. It will only better prepare them for the future. Having said this I to agree Grutza hasn't had a fair shot at QB since Kelly arrived.
I'd throw Teddy Abner's name in there for the Birds this season, along with others already mentioned. He'll provide senior leadership because of the way he plays the game and is well liked and respected by his teammates.
I was a fan of Farve's during his days in Green Bay. Then during the off-season's "retire / not retiring I began to feel differently towards him. I think it's a classic case of an athletes EGO getting in the way of clear thinking. I agree, he'll be done. Unfortunately his final year will leave a bad taste in many fans mouths. He'll still be a shoe in for the HOF though.
