I was there and so were the true supporters of Coach and the baseball program. Yesterday was a great day at Highlands for the baseball program and I'm sure there will be plenty more. I was impressed with the number of people that showed up.

There were people there yesterday that I would have never expected to show and support the Baseball team but with any change there is always a boost of interest. Coach will agree that yesterday was a good start, but he will be the 1st one to say that this baseball team has a long way to go.:thumb: Good job Coach!!!!!

Highlands broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to help head coach Jeremy Baioni earn a win in his first game as varsity head coach, 6-4, Monday at Highland Park.

After Holy Cross tied the score in the top of the sixth, senior left fielder Joel Daley followed a pair of walks with a base hit to put the Bluebirds ahead, 4-3. Senior second baseman Jack White followed with an RBI double, and senior Ted Abner pushed across a third run with a suicide squeeze.

The Indians mounted a two-out rally in the seventh behind a walk and three hits, but senior right-hander Charlie Gold stranded the tying run on second by getting a pop out to catcher Sam Liggett to end the game.

Gold was the third Highlands pitcher of the contest. Jake Daley, twin brother of Joel Daley, earned the win by working the fifth and sixth innings. Oliver Head started the game for Highlands, lasting four innings.

Baioni took over as Highland’s varsity head coach this season after spending the last three seasons as the junior varsity head coach.

There was...It was kind of the walking wounded though. Little Mikey cut his lip on the Jungle Gym and Big Country fell off and hurt his wrist. We were in some good company yesterday in SueBird's corner. Now if we could just get her to wear a white shirt with a red bullseye saying(hit it here) we will be in good shape. Good time and can't wait until the next home game.
