Is it true that Gallatin County has a 6'7 foreign exchange student that moved in? I also heard that McCubbin from Walton is transferring there. This will add depth and size to their team, if true!

I would just like to wish Coach West good luck as he takes the reigns for the girls program at Grant County. In the 1980's and early 1990's Grant County had a real successful girls program. Hopefully Coach West can restore a winning atmosphere for the girls and the school. He has a tough road ahead of him with Walton-Verona and Simon Kenton in the District. Both are excellent programs right now.

Coach Reitz was a great coach and a great guy! He always took time to help a young coach out when needed. Truly old school and wanted to just coach kids. I am sure he will hang out at his lake house and enjoy his free time.

I heard that Joe B. Hall put in a call for him to get the job. It will be interesting and i wonder if Coach Mason will stay on staff as his assistant.

He left Georgetown because the rumor was that they were going NCAA Div. III. He knew he would not be able to recruit or keep the same kind of athletes on his team if they were playing D-3, so he left for a Div. 1 Asst. position. I think that step makes sense if you look at it. As far as him coming back to HS to coach, I bet he had a really hard time adjusting to being an assistant coach. He had been a head coach for what almost 20 years at Georgetown? Once a head coach it is hard to sit back and just make suggestions while someone else makes the decisions. I am a little surprised he came back to the HS ranks. However, after hearing what his salary and benefits and job responsibilities, it makes sense. Happy is a good guy, i just hope he can make the adjustment from dealing with 22 year old men to 14 year old freshman that can't play and their parents.

Here is a possible candidate for you: Jason Holland, Oldham County. He was a finalist for the job when Greisser was hired and has since gone to Oldham County and has made 2 trips to Rupp. Heffington the A.D. was in the Oldham County school district for awhile. There might be a connection there.

Has anyone ever thought about how expensive it would be for schools if they classify basketball? Some of the schools in the Eastern or Western part of the state, how far would they have to travel for district or regional competition? That is all i hear about when football coaches, athletic directors and other people talk about the football playoffs. They always talk about how far they have to travel for district games and postseason. Think about that! At least the current structure of basketball allows communities that are close to play each other.

Looking on Montgomery County's District Website, Phil Rison is not listed as the Athletic Director. He has another title, something like Director of District Services. Gene Heffington is listed as athletic director on High School Website. I was told at the State Tournament that Phil is looking for Superintendent jobs in other districts. The man has bleed Montgomery County Red and Blue, if he is out looking for jobs that ought to tell you something! Train wreck on the way?

Did Coach Wise teach at Montgomery County? I hate to hear this for him, i thought he did a good job! Has helped rebuild Frankfort and was doing a good job at Montgomery. There must be something going on there.

I enjoyed watching the kid as well, but did anyone take notice that he crossed the FT line before it hit the rim both times

Let's give Coach Hicks a few more years and see what he can do. His best class of players is sophomores. Let's see what he can do with them when they are seniors.

I wish someone would define for me the integrity of the game! It is a competition. There are only 2 definites when the game ends. One team will win and one will lose. Do what you have to do to win! That is what you are trying to do when you play, right??? Come on people.

Tyler Wesley a 6'6 center from Oldham County is pretty smooth. He looks like he isn't putting out effort, but don't mistake his body language for production. The kid can play.

Good memories. A friend of mine won his 100th game of his career there.

This is a perfect example of what i was talking about in a thread in the boys forum. This is my quote from the thread on the lack of boone co students at the Regional Touranment. I think it is a problem across the state. Why pay to watch high school basketball when you can watch college games at home. Most schools struggle to create an environment of school spirit. We live in a society where it is easier to criticize the other team and complain about your team or coach instead of just showing support for the kids and coaches who are giving their all! Think about adults that attend games, most of them spend their time complaining about the coaches, players and refs! Instead of just being supportive and cheering for their team!!
