Hicks back to Bath County?

Featured Replies

I heard at the state tournament that Coach Hicks is leaving Grant County to go back to Bath County? I hope this isn't true. Does anyone have any information?

Go ask him yourself. Why post that unless you have invested interest?

Would love to see that happen. Not sure that it would.

Is this coach related to Billy Hicks at Scott County?

I believe he is Billy's nephew. A very good coach. However, he tends to be a lightning rod, people love him or hate him, few fence riders.

Let's give Coach Hicks a few more years and see what he can do. His best class of players is sophomores. Let's see what he can do with them when they are seniors.

Maybe Coach Hicks has realized how difficult it is to win in Grant County. The only team sport that has had consistent success for the last 10 years is Fast Pitch Softball and a lot of that can be contributed to the fact that the coach of the girls Fast Pitch team dumps a ton of his own money into the program.

Also, i would argue his best class should have been this year's seniors. However, they all quit over the last 2 years. When this group of seniors were Freshman they went 17-3 and beat Boone County once and lost to them once by 4 points. Boone wins the 9th and Grant has 2 players left from that team????

Yes you're exactly right! The players that left did exactly what they were taught when they were Frosh. They quit just like their coach when things didn't go his way! Its not wrong to ask kids to show up every day and work hard! In no way is it Coach Hicks fault they didn't want to work and earn their playing time. And BTW he's not leaving Grant Co.

If you're talking about Coach Kinmon leaving, then you're wrong. He was basicallly offered a promotion (in administration) within the district...but the one string was that he couldn't be the head coach anymore. Unfortunately the job offer came shortly after the season had already begun. He asked to finish out the year, but was forced to choose...take the job OR don't, and be able to remain head coach. However, had he chose to remain as coach, the job would've been filled by someone else. I don't fault him for the decision he made.

No I am not talking about coach Kinmon. So much has been made about how "when this group were freshmen." So did their freshmen coach. Why?

Dude, you have some serious issues. This website is not a good place to have outbursts fueled by bitterness and jealousy.

Just stating facts my man! Everyone wants to beat around the bush and ask why this and why that. People want to make assumptions as to why things happen, I'm just telling you why they happen. Have a great day!
