Congrats to Walton on a great season...just fell a little short. Good luck to Walton on Friday evening.

What is Friday evening?

Nice season for WV, sounds like they were big underdogs in this and made it very respectable.

This was a game WV could have won. They established the tempo but missed several easy shots early, misssed several free throws (14 for 21) and took some bad shots at critical times in the 4th quarter. Walton's zone defense and triangle and 2 was effective but when they went to man defense in the second half, Marion had success. However, Walton never quit and battled till the end. They gave Marion (the #1/#2 team in the state) all they wanted. Congrats on a very fine season and I wish the seniors the best as they move on. Congrats to Marion County on the win and good luck the rest of the tournament.

Could not have said it better. The missed "bunnies" down inside were the difference here. Marion County made most of their's, Walton didn't. Was a little surprised at how much Michelle Judy sat in the second half, though. She seemed to create a mismatch problem for MC, and pretty much had her way with the slower defender. I know she picked up two fouls in the first half, but don't remember her getting into serious trouble in the second half.

 

But, as madman has already said, congratulations on a very fine season!

Four that played.

Based on all I had heard about Marion, I didn't expect the game to be that close. I watched the game on video feed and really felt like WV coulda/shoulda won the game. Judy's foul trouble in first half was tough; she came out in the third and really asserted herself after Marion made a nice run to start the 2nd half.

 

While WV has some nice returning players next year in Judy, Sandlin, Mullakin, they lose a lot of perimeter shooting. With the two bigs, I have a feeling that they will be seeing a ton of zone next year.

 

All A Championship and Regional Title is a very nice season. Good Job.

Agreed! They were the only battle for Marion on the way to the final. Great season for the Bearcats! Wish all their Seniors well and blessings in all they do.
