  1. My two cents. I like this thought a lot. During breaks while in season, it is difficult to get all kids to stay in town. For many families, this is the only times that they can spend on a vacation together. And we as coaches are not going to win that battle forcing kids to stay home. People need to understand also that teenagers need a mental and physical break from time to time. This is not college. Their bodies are changing and cannot give full effort for long periods of time. Using Tony Holler philosophy - Train them like Fast Cats!!! - Lots of rest and go 100% when you go!!!
  2. This caught me off guard. I knew he was thinking of stepping away from the field but did not expect it today. Coach Clark is a fantastic role model and person who leads by example on and off the field. The success of his teams speak for itself. My son played two years for Coach Clark and I am thankful for the time he spent with him. A fair man of Character who did what was right for the players. Bardstown Football is going to miss him greatly. Congrats Coach Clark on a job well done. I guess you are semi retired. Take care.
  3. I agree. TyTy is one heck of a football player. He may be small in size, but he has a Huge Heart and was made to play football. His quickness to hit holes and speed to make defenders look silly are strong. His willingness to take a hit shows he is not afraid to mix it up inside. He can catch the ball and make big plays that way. He is also a quality defender. I am not sure I have seen any HS kid his size hit as hard as he does. He will not back down from anyone. I would encourage coaches to strongly consider him as one of the state's top running backs. As mentioned when he gets behind a college line, he will be even better. I am anxious to see which school gives him the opportunity to showcase himself at the next level. Good Luck moving forward my friend!!!
  4. I am pulling for the Tigers in this one. As mentioned, they have gotten on a hot streak at the right time. All you have to do is win by one point and advance. Coach Clark will not let them look ahead to next week. I have said all along, TyTy is the most dynamic player in the state that I have seen. With the heart of a lion, he had put this team on his back all season and has produced outstanding results. This game will be no different. Looking forward to seeing the Tigers play a strong game and advance.
  5. Thanks for sharing. The book is very thorough and contains a lot of information. Very well done.
  6. Congrats John on this promotion. Look forward to Bulldog- Charger games.
  7. The grass is NOT always greener on the other side. Recruiting for HS is simply WRONG. Unless special circumstances prevail. A sport reason is not an acceptable reason. C'mon KHSAA, stop the madness. A school that plays with their own kids is at a real disadvantage a lot of the time. Where is the school pride that we all used to have while playing for our local HS? It is just very frustrating to know that a lot of teams are going out and convincing players to leave their home school and transfer to a different school. Good Luck Lyon Co.!!!
  8. Love this picture of TyTy Williams. Look at his calves. This kid has speed upon speed and fears no one. His frame is small and impact but his Heart and Talent are second to none. I look for a tremendous season from him in 2023. Bardstown is still loaded and will make noise no matter what class. Coach Clark and coaches do a tremendous job with those kids. Nothing but success coming from the Tigers!!!
  9. Proud for Travis and family. Following a family pattern of Mom playing for UofL Basketball; Dad playing for WKU Football and Sister currently playing for LaSalle Basketball. Travis is one of the hardest workers I have been around and no doubt the reason for his successes. I know he will continue to put in the work to be a contributor for the Cardinals. Besides his throwing abilities and ability to get rushing yards is his physicality and Speed. Without training last Spring, he stepped on the track and ran a :49 second leg on a 4 x 400 relay. He came through 200 in :22 seconds. He can lay a brutal hit on people from the defensive side of the ball. I look forward to seeing him on the field next season for UofL.
  10. Coach Clark will get Bardstown on the winning track with the talent that he has coming back. TyTY Williams is an All State Running Back. His speed and quickness make him a threat to score every time he touches the ball. More importantly he is a top notch Athlete. Can also catch the ball and on the defensive side he will put some massive hits on his opponents. He is a humble kid that has the biggest heart of most everyone I have seen play HS ball in the last few years. I can't wait to see him produce this coming season. Coaches in Kentucky need to keep an eye on TyTy for his Senior year. Plays basketball and runs track also.
  11. No doubt one of the best HS games I have ever seen. The two stars put on a show. Reed with a Triple Double including 32 points. Travis with 45 points. These two elite players are no doubt at the top of the list when it comes to having the full package. They are unselfish team players that know when it is their turn to shine. If you have not seen either one of them play, you need to look at their schedules and get to one of their games. You will be glad you did. I look forward to hopefully seeing both Lyon Co. and North Laurel at Rupp for the State Tournament.
  12. So happy to see our guy Travis Egan receiving this award. Taking everything into account, he most certainly deserved it. He improved and improved throughout the season leading the Chargers to the playoffs and throughout the playoffs. Had a superior State Final game. Great stats, athletic, tough as can be and a great leader were his DNA. Someone is going to get a heck of a football player. He and his teammates brought great joy to Mt. Washington and those memories are set forever. CONGRATS TRAVIS!!! You earned this with your Hard Work and Discipline to being the best you could be. 6A STATE CHAMPION!!! WE BELIEVED!!!
  13. I am an employee at Bullitt East and have coached several of these football players in the past. Yes, I have commented on several posts already because I am so filled up with how proud I am of this huge accomplishment. It all starts with Administration support and then having the right leadership in place of the program. Players have to buy in on what the coach wants to accomplish. And then go out and execute the plan. Yes we took a blow the first game. But our kids came back week after week and improved because of the loss. Momentum started and continued to build. We defeat Male for the first time ever. Everyone who doubted us said that because Swinney did not play was the reason we won. We continued onward and defeated Manual which was a huge game to win for our program. We also had to defeat good teams in Central Hardin and Bryan Station. We faced adversity several times along the way but our kids Believed and Never Gave Up!!! When we knew we would play Male again, we embraced it. All the doubters continued to doubt and said we could not defeat them twice, especially with Swinney back in action. Our kids never flinched. Rough start to the game, but our defense played extremely well to limit Male to 14 points in the 1st half. Our offense rose to the occasion to tie it at halftime. We had a tough 3rd quarter. But our guys came alive and took care of business the 4th quarter. Many people have said it was Unbelievable. I say only to the doubters and those who do not know our program. It was TOTALLY BELIEVABLE to our Coaches, Players and Fans. What a FASTASTIC MEMORY that will live in the hearts of everyone who contributed in some way. Even to those from outside our city who supported us. WE ARE the 6A STATE CHAMPIONS!!!
  14. There has been doubt and unbelief from many many people around the State. No one ever thought that BE could get to such a level in the short amount of years that we have done so. Many sportswriters never gave us a chance in their rankings. But as you know, Actions speak louder than words. Our program never wavered in our Belief of what we would accomplish. And our kids proved week after week with their stellar play that they were worthy of high praise. The improvement from the game one loss, was outstanding. Coach Kendrick is a man of high character, moral standards and can flat out coach. Yes Coach of the Year should be a No Brainer. Travis Egan has proven all season that he is worthy of all the accolades that he has received. His stats are Fantastic. His leadership on this team was Top Notch. He dominated the Championship game. He threw the ball like crazy but don't forget that he caught the winning 2 point play. And then went out on the defensive side and made the game ending sack with a big time hit on the Male QB. I question anyone who does not believe or will not vote for him for Mr. Football. Bullitt East deserves the respect of everyone out there. WE BELIEVED and are now the 6A STATE CHAMPIONS. And nobody can deny or take that away.
  15. Not only that, he caught the 2 point go ahead play. And he made the ferocious tackle on the Male QB to end the game. The kid is the definition of a TRUE ATHLETE!!! If anyone doubts that he should win Mr. Football, then I want to know the reasons why. Led the Chargers to the 6A State Championship with huge numbers. Has huge numbers in the final State sheet for the season. Played on both sides of the ball when needed. Handled our punting duties. I know that there other good players out there, but there should be no doubt the he should be the winner. WE BELIEVED!!!
  16. Coach Kendrick took an Awesome group of Seniors and others and lead them to this high level of achievement. It is Unbelievable to a lot of people out there. Many doubted that we would ever win a 6A State Championship. But WE BELIEVED!!!! An amazing 4 headed monster on Offense, a much improved Defense throughout the season and great leadership equals a State title.
  17. Mike is the Grandfather of Travis. Brandon Egan, Mike's son and Travis's Dad was a top QB in his day. It is great to see three generations of Egans achieve this high level of success. Travis is the real deal and deserves to be named Mr. Football. His stats are crazy good on offense. He also played some Middle Linebacker on Defense and had some ferocious hits when needed. And he handled our punting duties. A great leader for his teammates. GREAT JOB TRAVIS!!!
  18. They had worked on it the last three weeks of the season. Practiced it in the walk through before the game. It was most definitely well thought out and executed. WE BELIEVED!!!
  19. Yes. We had been in the title game twice - in 1994 and 2008. And now 2022. See a pattern? All 14 years apart. The first two at a lower level. We joined 6A in 2018 (I believe) and everyone said we would never win a title in 6A. Four years later the 6A State Champion trophy is sitting in Bullitt East HS. What a tremendous season it has been. WE BELIEVED when most did not. CONGRATS BE CHARGERS!!!
  20. Congrats also to your Mayfield Cardinals on an Outstanding season. You guys are the standard of HS football. Kuddos to your team and coaches for fighting through adversity with the Tornado. May God continue to bless your town!!! (My Mom lives there)
  21. The crowd at the High School to welcome the team home was Incredible!!! The city of Mt. Washington loves their Chargers and is Proud to say so. Fireworks and an assembly in the gym was simply Awesome!!! Today at school the buzz is still very much alive!!! Everybody looks tired but the excitement comes out of the mouths of our Administrators and all Staff. Pep Rally this morning to celebrate with our students. People say it was Unbelievable. I disagree and say WE BELIEVED!!! CONGRATS TO OUR CHARGERS AND COACHES!!! And to MT WASHINGTON!!! 6A STATE CHAMPIONS!!! Forever a memory of a lifetime!!!
  22. With the majority of teams in their respective Championships being favored to be there, no doubt all the doubters never predicted Bullitt East to make it to Saturday. Well, we will be there in force at 4:00. Travis Egan is our top notch QB and has done a masterful job in leading the Chargers to have a chance in capturing the State 6A Championship. He numbers are fantastic with 2600+ yards passing and 901 yards rushing. And in certain situations he punts (rarely do we punt) and plays Middle Linebacker with a knack for stopping the run. The kid is a tremendous athlete with speed and true toughness. A Football Player. His leadership on the field demands that his team follow his lead. There are several athletes on our team surrounding him which gives BE a tremendous chance to take the title. Tomorrow we will Unleash the Beast!!! The community of Mt. Washington will be there, loud and proud in huge numbers. This magical ride is continuing to pick up steam and what a ride it has been. Good Luck Chargers - WE BELIEVE!!!
  23. Egan's stats are crazy good. As the season has progressed, Travis has gotten better and better. And BE has gotten better each and every week. If he plays relaxed as does what he can do, then he has the best chance to win the Mr. Football award. Almost everyone has said that we could not advance in the playoffs from week to week. In other words, a huge majority still do not believe in our kids. That is great. East will do what they have been doing all season behind the leadership of Travis Egan. And by the way, he can put a serious lick on someone when he is asked to play middle linebacker. Can't wait until Saturday to see this game. Travis + Chargers - WE BELIEVE!!!
  24. I am very sorry to read about the boat accident. For this game, Sweeney is a load and will be tough to contain. BE's defense has improved a ton since their first meeting. Male is going to have to contain Travis Egan who has had a fantastic season in leading the Chargers to the Championship game. I understand about coaches, but the Players have to execute the game plan. What about the supporting casts? Male has other good players no doubt. BE has the three amigos who contribute to a high octane offensive game. Two very solid offensive linemen. On D, again they have improved immensely as they have progressed through the playoffs. Twice in the playoffs they have had to make a huge stop on 4th down inside the three yard line to help preserve a victory. Last week a huge interception was the turnaround point of the game. All of our opinions will not affect the outcome at all. Tough, confident players making big time plays on the field will be what it takes to come out on top of this game. History is pushed aside because WE BELIEVE!!! Let's GO Chargers!!! (Wait until you see the crowd on the BE side. 900 parent tickets were sold in 10:00. The community will be out in force, loud and super supportive of our kids.)
  25. What a season it has been for our Chargers!!! Was brought back down to earth against Spencer Co. in the first game (L) and then made a huge commitment to improving weekly. Now look at what they have done throughout the season. They are on a roll and the train is not slowing down in the State 6A Championship game. Playing against Male is a tough challenge. They have weapons and they are a really good team. But you have to say the same thing about BE. Wins over Male, Manual, Central Hardin and Bryan Station have prepared them to finish strong on this awesome streak of wins. Travis Egan (QB) is one heck of a football player and a true athlete. Remember back a long time ago when there were Punt, Pass and Kick competitions. Travis is great at all of them and would definitely be the winner of the 6A competition if they had it. He is a true leader on this team and his teammates respond to him. Then the offensive trio of Mason Gauthier (RB), Cam Brogan (WR) and Nolan Davenport (WR) is Very hard to stop. Great stats from all three of them. Offensive Lineman Sabastian Esponza is a beast and is very effective in his position in opening holes for Mason, Travis and others. And Peyton Stafford does an outstanding job also on the OLine. Our Defense has improved tremendously and is a solid group led by Isaiah Hare (DL) and Ryan Still (DB/LB) along with several other strong defenders. Colin Elder is money on extra point kicks. These kids play for each other not worrying about who gets the credit. The community of Mt. Washington is such a strong support group for this team. They pack out Egan Field and then always have a tremendous crowd at away games. Many times outnumbering the home team crowd. We also have a tremendous student group called the Red Zone Rowdies who help keep the team fired up. Making it to the Championship game has the town buzzing along with everyone in the BE School Building. 900 tickets were sold in about 30 minutes. And then all the others who will be there with a General Admission ticket will contribute to the enthusiasm that our crowd shows. The support last week was off the charts!!! Our kids respond to this which is a huge benefit. But the deciding factor will be how each team executes on the field for the entire game. BE needs to come out strong early. They have to limit unnecessary turnovers on the offensive side and create them on the defensive side. And yes they will have to limit Sweeney's yards and Gainey's receiving yards. Then the offensive must continue to do what they have done all year long. Don't think Male can stop our offensive show. What a game this should be. Many around the state are supporting our Chargers in this game. The theme of this crazy ride is "WE BELIEVE" and will continue to be until the final horn. I wish nothing but the BEst for this tremendous group of kids. Oh yeah, we also have a tremendous coaching staff led by 1st year coach Keegan Kendrick. I know that they will have a great game plan for this final game of the year. Same district rivals (Unheard of) now playing for the Big Trophy. Looking for the Chargers to FINISH STRONG!!! WE BELIEVE!!!
