  1. It is mind boggling that BE is still not being given much respect by a lot of people around the State. Go look at 6A stats to see that they are legit. This team has gotten the job done with just a minor blimp on the screen first game. Have beaten Male and Manual. Their offense is strong, especially in the passing game. They have a Mr. Football candidate in Travis Egan who has thrown for 2302 yards and his receivers have 165 catches. Running back Mason Gauthier has rushed for 1205 yards. Receivers Nolan Davenport with 53 catches for 851 yards and Cam Brogan with 57 catches for 775 yards. Ryan Still has three kick-off returns for a TD. Colin Elder has kicked 45 of 46 extra points. I think that those are pretty solid numbers. BE is averaging 42.2 points per game while giving up only 14.4 points per game. Central Hardin has a solid defense, but not sure they can slow down BE passing game. CH has a strong running game so BE defense will have to step up in the box to stop the run. CH has only thrown 62 times all season for 739 yards. The weather is going to play a factor in this game. Cold temperatures with a slight wind will not be ideal. The team that can manage this better will definitely have an advantage. BE must come out strong and eliminate silly penalties. Expect a big crowd from Mount Washington for this. However, low temperatures will keep some fans home. ALL GAS NO BRAKES!!! WE BELIEVE!!!
  2. I too pull for the Underdog most of the time. But not this time. Bardstown has remained undefeated despite losing their best player for the rest of the season and their QB who might be able to make an appearance this week. Bardstown has had quality teams recently but not made it to the finals in a while. A matchup with Cal in the finals will be the best game of the year in Class 3A. Good Luck to the Tigers!!!
  3. There is no doubt that "TyTy" is one of a kind type of player. He is the toughest 5'5" kid you will see out on a football field. Not big in stature but has a HUGE HEArt!!! He is a FOOTBALL PLAYER!!! He is a powerful RB with Speed!!! He can run over you or around you. He can catch the ball very effectively as well. On the Defensive side of the ball, he is a head hunter. Not afraid to hit anybody and some of his hits are jaw rattling. I know him personally and he is a great kid. I feel Bardstown will be fine this week. Then will see if they can get Clark back at QB the next week. Good Luck Tigers as you pursue a State Championship!!!
  4. Does anyone know what his status is today? Agreed that Trigg needs him on the field to have a chance to play with Hart. I hope he can go.
  5. One of the better 1st round matchups will be Trigg Co. heading to Hart Co. Trigg has some talented athletes on the offensive side of the ball. Back in the day (early 70's) Trigg had unbelievable talent under Coach Joe Jaggers ( I graduated in 78 and still have my scrapbooks of those glory years). I have not seen them in person, but their stats are strong. Hart's stats show a strong Defensive team. So can Trigg use their Offensive game plan to be successful against a stubborn Hart Defense? And can Trigg Defense do enough to keep Hart out of the end zone? I will be in attendance to cheer on the Wildcats. Happy that they have had a strong season.
  6. Would certainly like to see Bardstown vs. Cal in the State Finals. Even with injuries to major players, Bardstown has kept their season winning streak without a loss for the second year in a row. Now we will have to see how they will handle the playoffs. Mentally, it is a different pressure that comes in the playoffs. Good Luck to the Tigers!!!
  7. Travis Egan continues to do awesome things for Bullitt East. Impressive numbers on the season. 1900+ yards passing with 23 TD. 501 yards rushing for 9 TD. On D, one interception and is a head hunter!!! You do not want him to get a running start on you as he will get to you and deliver massive hits!!! He is a talented athletic football player. With BE on the move, stats are going to be better. But more importantly leading his team to keep winning week after week says a lot about his value to the team. Keep it going T-Bone!!!
  8. I agree with what you are saying. All teams have at least 8 chances to win a game. I cannot come up with a really good reason why someone with a 0 or 1 -2 win season should move into a first round playoff game. By eliminating the 4th team and giving the #1 seed a bye, you will get great 1st round games between 2-3. The #1 seed gets gate for another home game is a positive I guess. Seeing the distance that some of the #4 seeds have to travel and basically have no chance at winning makes no sense whatsoever. But the games are won/lost on the field. So Good Luck to all teams and safe travels to those on the highways!!!
  9. I agree 100%. It was a great game to watch. The fact that BE had zero turnovers and stuck to their game plan on Offense were huge. Adding Egan, Brogan and Davenport was huge on the Defensive side of the ball. That hit Egan had was one of the best I have seen in awhile. Everyone in the program Believed they could win this game and they went out and proved it. Coach Kendrick was on top of his game as well. Now kids have to stay humble and continue to work hard each day to continue to improve. Should be an exciting ride for the next few weeks.
  10. Both Goodin and Jones have been outstanding this season. No doubt about it. But I think there is something to be said for how the team performs under a top player. And my guy Travis Egan is leading the Chargers to new heights. His numbers are strong and the team is on a 7 game winning streak after defeating Male for the District title. Looks like he will have some games left to prove himself worthy of the award. That bone rattling hit he had against Male is definitely one of the top hits I have seen this season. Looking forward to seeing just how far he can lead our team in the playoffs. I would not go against him. His Grandfather is a legendary coach from BE; his Dad was a legendary player at BE and now Travis looks to make big things happen as he completes his Senior season.
  11. Travis is a True Athlete!!! Kid is a quality QB with strong passing numbers. He also can do damage running the ball. Has played some Defense with 9 tackles and 1 Interception. If you like stats here are his numbers: Rushes - 67 for 486 yards. 7.3 yards per carry. 11 TD. Passing - #1 ranked QB in 6A. 125 of 194 for 64.4% completion rate. 1758 yards. 19 TD. 195 yard per game. * He has led Bullitt East to a 8-1 record this season. On a 7 game winning streak. BE Defeated Male last week while Travis played both sides of the ball. As far as an Athlete goes, he plays Basketball and runs Track. With no training he stepped on the track last year twice and split 49 seconds on the second leg of a 4 x 400 relay. * If BE makes a deep run in the playoffs, there is no doubt he should be considered for Mr. Football.
  12. I guess I jumped the gun. I forgot that after the first two rounds, the brackets are according to RPI. BE will have to play at even a higher level to eliminate Manual. Of which they are capable of doing. So they need to take care of business the next two games, stay healthy, stay humble and continue to work hard every day in practice. Nothing is given, but everything is earned. LET'S GO CHARGERS!!!
  13. What a great game played by Bullitt East on both sides of the ball. Congrats on a program changing W for the entire program. BE did what it had to do. They believed in their own abilities and carried it out. Shoutout to everyone on the team. Especially Travis Egan (QB) who also played on the defensive side of the ball. Had one of the best hits on D that I have seen all season. Kid is one tough athlete. Cam Brogan and Nolan Davenport also played on the Defensive side which was a huge boost for the Chargers. Mason Gauthier is simply a hard nosed under rated running back. Happy for Coach Kendrick and staff. Time for some people out there to give BE some respect. This has been in the works for the last four years. The road does not get any easier in the playoffs with Cross Districting. After Butler, then Manual. Get past them and then St. X. But as I have said before, the game is on the field and anything can happen. Charger Nation is proud of you Chargers!!!
  14. All the talk and all the stats are fun for us to talk about and look at. The winner will obviously be determined between the lines. BE has a real chance of winning this game. They will need to play with confidence, limit mistakes, force a turnover or two and do what they do on offense. The crowd will be packed and electric in bringing extra energy to the team. A game I am looking forward to seeing. Good Luck Chargers!!!
  15. As a track coach, there is no doubt there is a benefit to the player by participating in track and field. Simply look at the numbers. A huge majority of successful football players participated in T&F in High School. At every level. My thought is that you cannot be faster if you do not work to be faster. Participating in Track teaches proper running form, how to explode out of blocks, how to be quick on your feet in the Shot and Discus. Sprinters make great Long Jumpers. The hard part right now is for the players to understand that participating in track is helping to prepare them for the fall. Everyone says they want to get stronger and faster. So they lift weights. But they do not work specifically on running. Personal Trainers are now the thing. I get told that they run in workouts. It is not the same. I have had several football players in the past say they are really fast and I finally convince them to come out. When they compete, they find that it is a whole another world on the track. My HS fellow coaches are encouraging them to do so. College coaches want Athletes. One of the first questions asked of a HS coach is "What other sports do they participate in?" They are looking for athletes who can go to a different sport, learn that sport and be competitive in that sport. Learning to be comfortable when they are uncomfortable. This certainly benefits the other sports. I know that many kids are successful by just competing in one sport. And that is great. But I will always be behind the fact that HS kids should participate in as many sports as possible. My son has competed in three Varsity sports this season. He will go on to play college football in the fall. All three sports are helping him to continue to develop all aspects of his body. And he has found that he is having good success in T&F. Lastly so many kids are wearing out their bodies by participating in just one sport. Read articles from former MLB players who are totally against kids playing baseball all year long. Or NFL players who say track was very important to their success. To be honest, the majority of kids who have had T&F success, participated in another sport. Developed athletes are what we all want on our teams. All coaches need to carefully consider allowing their players to be allowed to participate in another sport. I personally want to provide better athletes to my school's other teams. I want them to be successful. Everyone benefits that way. Good Luck to all coaches out there!!!
  16. Was anyone from Bardstown suspended going into the District tournament?
  17. I was sad to learn of Coach Jaggers passing. I grew up in Trigg Co. and have great memories of the football program while Coach was there. All the numbers throughout his coaching career speak for themselves. His contributions to HS football were enormous. I am a friend of the family, especially his son Marty and his daughter Kelly. We were at Trigg Co. together and I followed Marty to WKU. He was the starting QB and I was fortunate to be on the Cross Country/Track teams. My prayers and condolences go out the family. May God provide the strength they need during this time.
  18. What a great day of basketball for our Lady Chargers!!! To take down #1 and #2 in the same day says alot about the toughness of our girls. Congrats girls!!! Continued success the remainder of the regular season and into the post season. EAST PRIDE!!!
  19. It is Official. Offensive Coordinator KEEGAN KENDRICK has been named the new Head Football Coach. Got some talent for next season. Look forward to seeing the program continue to improve.
  20. Agree for sure Stockton of Glasgow. Also look for TJ Greenwell to have a big season next year. Kid is really good.
  21. To all Bluegrass Preps Followers - On Friday night I was at a basketball game in Greenville Ky. The game was called off near the end of the 1st quarter due to the possibility of an upcoming tornado.. We were sent to a safe place and after about 20 minutes was told the game was cancelled. Everyone left wondering what might transpire later in the night. I spent the night with a relative 10 miles away from Bremen which was hit. We only had some high winds where we were. The next morning I could not believe what had transpired through the night. The devastation of the weather that had occurred was hard for me to even believe. I lived in Graves Co. several years ago. My Mom now lives on the outskirts of town and she was not affected. My Aunt lives in town and only had roof damage to her house. I simply was shocked to learn that the tornado had destroyed Mayfield, did serious damage in Bremen and hit Bowling Green hard. My heart has been heavy since Saturday morning. I know that God is in control and people will do what they have to do to pull their lives back together. I ache especially for the families who lost loved ones. I ache for the families that lost their home and everything they own. I ache for those who do not have electricity or water. Mayfield's HS colors are Red/Black but the work ethic in that town is very Blue Collar. The community is a close knit community. People are kind. They love football and competition. They now will have to compete in a whole different matter. There is no doubt they will overcome this tragic event. I am thankful for anyone who has been able to do something for the city. I am hearing of some amazing stories of those who have gone there with supplies. I just spoke to a student who said that he and his Dad went to Mayfield yesterday and took 10,000 bottles of water. That is Awesome. Many schools are asking to fill up busses with donations. People will give money. But how much is enough? I don't think we will ever give too much. Team Kentucky will do everything possible to help this hurting people. And most importantly, the prayers of God's people are being lifted. God hears them all. Please consider how you can help. Everyone can do something. Anything is better than Nothing. And don't forget about those in Bremen who lost loved ones and possibly Bowling Green and other areas. The state of Kentucky is a special place. I am proud to be a Kentucky boy. I know that in the upcoming days, we all will do what we can to help those in need. Thanks for being a friend!!!
  22. I am not sure about how both teams stack up against each other. But I would not really count this as an upset. We all know about Reed. But what most do not know is that Cade Stinnett is a Bona Fide All State player. My son has played AAU ball with him on Manimal and I have watched him many times. No doubt Cade is one of a kind. Hard nosed, energetic, smart, scorer, defender with a top notch all around game. He is a throwback type of player. Not fancy, but game results will show top notch numbers. He is a Coaches' dream. Continue to watch this kid and his team going forward into the season. But more than that, he is a tremendous kid who does everything the right way. A leader on and off the court. Great grades. Respectful. Comes from a great family. Some college coach is going to get a great player. Cade is still under the radar, but that will change as the season progresses. Continued success Cade!!!
  23. Keiran Stockton (#6) is the real deal for Glasgow. His size for a running back is huge compared to others. He is a load to bring down. His YAC (Yards after Contact) is through the roof. Very seldom does one guy bring him down. Strength, Speed and Athletic all make for a BEAST for Glasgow. And yes he plays on the other side of the ball as well. It sure is hard to run up the middle on him. He hits hard and kids go down immediately. It should be a very interesting game. PT has always had athletes. Speed is a key ingredient for their success. If they can limit turnovers they will be right there. To me another 50-50 game which will fun to watch. Good Luck to both teams. Even though one will go home disappointed.
  24. Glasgow was 3 of 5 passing for 39 yards last week. For the season, 64/100 and 87 yds. per game. Passed for 1214 yards on the season. Looks like their passing game is not emphasized much. Numbers indicate a hard nosed running team. 3012 total yards for 215 per game and a 1000 yard back. Total Offense for the season is 4226 yards. On the other hand, here are the Bardstown offensive numbers. Brady Clark is 143 of 207 for 2544 yards on the season which is 212 yards per game. Four excellent receivers to go to. Clark spreads the ball all around. The season running game is 283 rushing attempts for 2592 yards. Average 185 yards per game. Two fantastic running backs with other options. Total offense for the season is 5136 yards. Should be a good matchup. Numbers say it is Bardstown's game to win. As a coach, I know that you put numbers behind you when the whistle blows and you play the best you can that game. Kids must play their best when their best is needed most. And they cannot take any team for granted. I do not think BHS will take the Scotties for granted. Look forward to seeing the Tigers keep their winning streak alive as they continue full steam ahead on this journey.
