  1. I heard today TC is bringing in 2 out of state transfers. Not sure how true as I heard from 3rd source.
  2. That's the majority of the problem. How serious are you taking football when you can't even offer your head football coach a teaching position in the district. Working all day in Somerset then driving to Horse Cave to coach football every day is crazy. Shame they didn't get him teaching position he done a very good job with them.
  3. Hopefully it works out for David. I do agree changing schools and AAU teams going into your senior year for a D1 prospect could get tricky.
  4. It was major news around this area from local schools. It was all over Social Media and on Campbellsville topics. As well as it was discussed on here and other message boards. Brandon's moved with his MOTHER to the Taylor County school district. His mother was and has always been his guardian. I agree I hope David is able to play as I've enjoyed watching him play. As for Taylor County I still believe they would be one of the top 3-4 teams in the region next year with Sloan and would have a chance to get back to Rupp. As I said to be personally it just looks very funny, now that Goodin is gone he decides he's home sick.
  5. You must be new to this board, because the number of transfers Gatewood and Taylor County has brought in has been discussed numorous times. It's been 3 the last 2 years. And nobody is saying anything about him transferring to Louisville, it's more of the way things went down. The only thing about the fact that it's louisville is he's going to try to enroll in Ballard, when it's assumed his parents still live in Moore district. Most think it's funny that now all of a sudden he's home sick and wants to leave now that Goodin and the supporting cast is gone.
  6. I don't know the rules and EVERYTHING might be legal as legal can get. It just seems funny to me that he decides he's homesick and misses his parents once Goodin graduates. Also if parents live in the Moore district shouldn't that be were he attends school besides Ballard?
  7. So you could send your son to play football at Bowling Green and have someone in that district as "legal guardian" then he can decide he's home sick and move back in with me in the district I live and be eligible to play? If this goes through it's going to get out of hand, IMO!!!
  8. Story in the Courier-Journal. Basically Sloan says first 2 seasons were good he liked Taylor County, but this season he missed his parents and family watching him. Wants to play his final year in his city.
  9. I THINK Gatewood was at Louisville Butler, but it could have been Doss I'm not even 50% sure. Yes Gatewood is sloan legal guardian, as his parents let him move with Gatewood to play ball for him at Taylor County. Gatewood has a great record and honestly I think he's a great coach, as how they improved as this season went forward. But people don't like him for the way they've got so many transfers at TC, which have all been legal according to the KHSAA. Not sure many jobs around the 5th would intrest Gatewood to be honest. Goodin is bigger, stronger, and a better athlete but I agree sloan is a better basketball player. Sloan is a much better shooter and much better defender than Goodin.
  10. When you can say you can bring the top rated player in the state with you when applying will make people take notice. It's funny because the press conference after the Doss game Gatewood mentioned about coming back next year with Sloan, Oliver, and Gaines leading the way.
  11. Thats what I'm hearing as well. Me personally I think it's a backup plan in case Gatewood gets a better job and bolts. I still wouldn't totally rule out that the kid doesn't Prep school next season.
  12. Yes he lives (lived) with Gatewood. This is very interesting, but not a complete surprise. AS I said in a earlier post I wouldn't be shocked if Sloan nor Gatewood where at Taylor County next basketball season. I've heard rumblings that it's just for the remainer of the school year and he will be back at Taylor County for next season.
  13. I'm not sure when the 5th region expanded to the teams they have now, as I'm not old enough to remember when Vine Grove, East Hardin, Rineyville, or Etown Catholic where in the 5th Region. I would like to see the link with all the 5th region winners going back over time.
  14. Yep I say that problem happens a lot in those Louisville and Lexington Districts.
  15. I've not look at stats or anything but I would say the 17th (Hardin County district) has won half of the 5th region titles. Like I said I haven't looked at any previous results. The point I was making was usually if it's a large populated area in a region they usually dominate that region. Such as BG/Warren County Etown/Hardin County. The 5th Region has 18 teams and all but 5 play in Class 3A or smaller in football, 6 of them are in the All A classic in basketball.
  16. I would probably weight Regional titles 5, state wins 7, and state titles 10. Most districts only have 4-5 teams, so honestly winning a district isn't much of an accomplishment when thinking of best programs of all time.
  17. Faulker is a wonderful player and deserved it no doubt about it, and I don't want to discredit he or Williams as they are awesome players and young men. I know for a FACT ppl around the 5th region don't like Gatewood or Taylor County. A lot of the dislike for TC actually goes back before Gatewood when they brought a transfer student in from Danville, and parents were giving jobs and housing. Then Gatewood bringing Sloan and Gaines in as transfer didn't help. Berry and Morgeson are from Campbellsville they did only play 1 year at Taylor County their senior year. So Gatewood has been at Taylor County for 3 years and has had 4 players transfer in.
  18. Taylor wasn't a very good team until they got Gaines playing IMO. Yes Taylor struggled and I always thought #1 was to high, but when you got 2 top 150 players on the same team in KY hard to not rank them #1. Owen County also lost lost in the first round of the region. So one team underachieved to start and the other did at the finish.
  19. I just could see Sloan going to prep school and Gatewood taking a college job. I would call it fact that Gatewood isn't liked, was that the sole reason Goodin didn't win? I doubt it,BUT I'm pretty sure it had something to do with it.
  20. They have some good young talent, Irvin will be a VERY good player. The Smith kid will be a good player too. Even with Goodin and Sloan if not for Gaines they dont go back to Rupp IMO.
  21. I agree Sloan will be in the conversation as he's probably the highest ranked player in his class. I just don't think Sloan could do more than Goodin did this season. Yes its a long time and anything could happen. Nobody likes Gatewood and they proved that by not voting for Goodin. If Goodin couldn't win as front runner I think it will be near impossible for Sloan to win being the 2nd or 3rd choice. Honestly, I wouldn't be to shocked if Sloan and Gatewood aren't at TC next year.
  22. If Goodin wasn't able to win it this year I HIGHLY doubt Sloan wins next year. If he has a good AAU summer he might get close to the national exposure Goodin had. Beside that TC will have a difficult time keeping up the same level of success they've had the past few years. North, Adair, John, Central and Bardstown should all be as good or improved from this year. So winning region will be a difficult task for them IMO, unless a stud transfer moves to TC lol
  23. Yes he is and I believe will have a excellent college career. There were more calls in the 2nd half but seemed they called more on the perimeter than in the lane.
