KHSAA Eyeing Possible Change To Transfer Rules

Wow, this could get ugly and quick.  I think they should allow a few more exceptions or reasons to allow for a transfer than they currently do, but to just allow a "free" transfer would be disastrous I believe.  Might as well go ahead and start a KHSAA transfer portal while we're at it.

I'm all for this so long as they do a better job at cracking down on the coaches who openly try to recruit kids from other schools. I know open transfers could feed that issue, but most times that a kid is transferring it is to better them in some situation. It may be better academics, maybe they were picked on and need a new environment or maybe it is just to increase their exposure or playing time in sports. If the move is to make a situation BETTER FOR A KID, who am I to say they should have to sit.

It would certainly be wild here in Louisville. Would create a bigger gap between the haves and have nots.

I think this could be said state wide!

It would become the wild west and yes, there might as well be a transfer portal.  I am not sure that's a can the state wants to open.

This could be horrible for schools who aren’t powerhouses. What is the point of this? KHSAA made the wrong person mad by not allowing a transfer? Why can kids not play where they live? KHSAA should enforce the rules in place. Yes AAU does it different, great this isn’t AAU.

This.

But not just in Louisville, everywhere. Small rural teams that wait for that once-every-5-years type talent (or once in a generation talent) may never see that talent again.

They can, if they want to.
