Open Job: Bullitt Central
gridiron guy replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
I agree doesn't really seem to add up. Doesn't seem that low numbers would get a coached fired who just want a district championship and went to Regional Final. -
I agree hard to compare coaches on just numbers. A lot more would go into picking the best coach IMO.

Open Job: Russell County

Last year they beat those district teams in the regular season. It can be done at Russell with the right guy in place. I do agree French will get it if he wants the job. -

I agree very winnable district and they've had success under Sharp. Even last season they were 6-1 although they lost in the 1st round of the playoffs. Also seemed that Sharp always keep solid numbers as well. -
Paducah Tilghman at Glasgow Predictions/Updates
gridiron guy replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
Actually the Jet sweep on the first play was ran away from him. With his frame he could easily put on 20-25 lbs and get to 250. I'm projecting him filling out when I say play DL at the next level. I can't see him playing DB in college. He does come up field to much at times and can be trapped, but college coaches will fix that. -

Yes he reclassified. Not really sure why because I'm sure he is getting D1 looks right now. As good as he is at FB he is a better D Lineman IMO. He dominates the game up front. -
Kyle Pierce Resigns from Barren County
gridiron guy replied to BillNye's topic in KY Football (High School)
I heard family/wife wasn't happy with him taking the job. Honestly I figured he would have took back over at Edmonson when Smith left. Barren isn't a horrible job IMO. -
Believe it or not it happens OFTEN

I agree I think a lot will depend on the type of offense Foley decides to run this year. It seems he floated between the spread, which is what he is accustomed to running, and Bone which the kids ran with Hilton.

If the kid tramsfer I would assume it would be out of state to a prep school. From what I've gather is he left BG because of the coach leaving. And the AAU season and playing for Team USA has his name out there, but I think it's more about getting challenged each game.

How long will Irvin be out? -
Spencer County 72 Taylor County 52
gridiron guy replied to Cardsrule1972's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Taylor County is probably around 5 or so in the region with Irvin would be my guess. Without him they would probably drop around 10 imo. I was shocked they won region last year. Depending on how Irvin injury I could see Taylor County not even making the regional tournament. -
Louisville Catholic Schools vs. Covington Catholic
gridiron guy replied to Roundsteak's topic in KY Football (High School)
Doubt Cov Catholic would be able to compete on a year to year basis. Cov Catholic team was beat last year in the playoffs by Fern Creek. DeSales beat Fern Creek. -
They Davis kid is legit and Beechwood controlled both L.O.S

Campbellsville vs. #1 Beechwood (1A State Semifinals)
gridiron guy replied to Bac2369's topic in KY Football (High School)
So this game will be played on Campbellsville High School campus for sure? I thought they might of played it at the University on the turf. -
Campbellsville vs. #1 Beechwood (1A State Semifinals)

Beechwood has twice the number of players as Cville. Cville has had a very good run but I'm afraid it comes to an end Friday. -
Please KHSAA DO NOT let this happen
gridiron guy replied to Larry Linville's topic in KY Football (High School)
I like the idea of cutting down to 4 or 5 classes and taking the top 16 in that class for the tournament. Then you can go the way of NCAA basketball and have an NIT tournament with those other teams. Or you can go like NCAA football and after the 4 playoffs teams go with bowl games. The bowl games you would have to have sponser, but it would be a way to maybe give some of those lower level teams something to work for on a year-to-year basis. -
3A #3 Elizabethtown at 2A #1 Christian Academy of Louisville
gridiron guy replied to DCB's topic in KY Football (High School)
CAL wins but I think Etown keeps it somewhat close, 14 points or less. This is Etown year to make some noise -
No sleepers in 2A, IMO it's just so top heavy. Glasgow has a very good team but will be matched up with DeSales/CAL in the 2nd round, then play the other in the Regional championship, then mayfield in semi and Danville in finals. That would take putting 4 almost flawless games together. Truthfully it's not many schools in the entire state who could put that together in back to back to back to back weeks.

Adair will be playing with a lot of new guys. According to KHSAA stats the leading returning rusher only had 16 carries for 112 yards, and the next guy had 12 carries for 59 yards. receiving they only had 4 catches for 34 yards returning. They do have a couple guys back that seemed to be good defensive players, but seems like a MAJOR rebuilding year for the Indians.

I agree the kids need to get acclimated to the heat. Say school ends today May 15th and nothing football related until July 10th. I would worry about putting a kid out there in the heat of summer. But an easy fix to that would be push the start of football season back.

Is Freshman Football Dying?
gridiron guy replied to GreggBlair1111's topic in KY Football (High School)
Hard for many small "rural" schools to put together a TRUE freshman team together. Harry Doyle yes it very common practice. Not only does it have to do with player numbers, I think it also has to do with the number of coaches.
