  • I'm going to say this as nicely as I can.  Most everybody on this site seems to like David Buchanon.  That's good.  He seems fair, level headed and supports high school football as much as anyone I kn

  • Talked former Trinity OC/ OL coach and current Male OC Cliff Dawson and he has thrown his name in the mix. His kids go to Mercer County schools.

  • I wouldn't consider being in a district with CAL and Desales as being easier.

Longtime assistant Brian Rowland. Been there forever. I think he's ready to be the man if he applies. Not sure if he wants to be a head coach though.

From this thread, what about Terry Yeast?

With this job now open who are the front runners for this job?   In less than 24 hours I have heard the names of:

-Current Mercer County defensive coordinator William Harris

-Dennis Johnson

-Clay Clevenger

-Josh Jaggers

-Brian Rowland

Coach Buchanan left Mercer County in great shape.  Should be a great job for whomever ends up with it.

I’d be shocked to see him leave the track program.   He has them as an elite track team in the state.

DJ from Woodford might/ will be coming home. Please emphasize on *might.

He finally has Woodford on track. His dad cast a long shadow in Harrodsburg.

I know that Coach Rowland has moved into administration.  I would assume Coach Harris will apply.  Seems like Clevenger's & Jaggers' names have come up for every coaching vacancy in the area.

Dennis Johnson would be my first call. His Son is a Freshman QB and top 5 player in his class for Basketball.

With their ties to the area their names will always come up.

I think job is an ideal situation for an experienced coach to finish out his coaching career, much like Coach Buchanan did.

Terry Yeast would be a good hire, knows the program and has been around for years! All the names listed above are big names as well, not sure they could go wrong with any of those guys.

Terry Yeast is one of the best track coaches in the state.  I don’t think he has coached football in over 15 years.  Not sure from that standpoint that he would be a legit candidate for this job.

Mercer has a great staff in place right now in regards to assistants. Hopefully new coach would keep some of them and they want to stay.  Harris I would think would be only internal option.  Rowland could be possibility I guess but he hasn’t coached last two years since becoming assistant principal.  If Clevenger was the guy is there a chance any current Ads players follow him?

You never know.  That’s always a possibility.
