Open Job: Mercer County

Dennis Johnson is the person I would be calling. He turned around a losing program and this is home for DJ!

  • I'm going to say this as nicely as I can.  Most everybody on this site seems to like David Buchanon.  That's good.  He seems fair, level headed and supports high school football as much as anyone I kn

  • Talked former Trinity OC/ OL coach and current Male OC Cliff Dawson and he has thrown his name in the mix. His kids go to Mercer County schools.

  • I wouldn't consider being in a district with CAL and Desales as being easier.

I've heard of one assistant at an area school who has applied. Any names from you guys?

Who is the name from your source?

I'd like to see Dennis Johnson or Josh Jaggers get this job. Both great choices.

I don’t think Johnson is interested.

Why wouldn't he be?  Plus, I think he is.

I think he wants to be his own man, and not follow in his dads shadow.

I think DJ, Clevenger, Jaggers will be mentioned. I can even see Mark Peach being interested.

I figured this thread would blow up with responses. Been pretty quiet...IMO mercer is a better job than both Garrard and Lincoln...

Pretty sure the pay is less than Lincoln but playing in Class 3A is a big plus, compared to 4a. Easier district and don't have to go through big brother (Boyle) to win it all.

David Buchanan left this program in great shape, ready to win, I’m sure their is a ton of interest it’s just been quiet.

David has left the program in great shape but, other than that, I’d like to hear the reasons behind your opinion that it is a better job than both Garrard and Lincoln.

Thanks.

Thanks.

In the last 5 seasons:

Mercer is 36-21/Lincoln is 24-32/Garrard is 17-33

The difference in facilities is another reason. Having an indoor space and weight room is hard to compete with. It also seems like to me, and I could be wrong, that the little league and MS programs have been more stable.

Great point, you think Jaggers would be a good fit here? He seems pop up for a lot of good jobs.
