  1. Given the, well, dissatisfaction among the Danville community, I would curious that if the right super was hired, would they re-evaluate the current state of the football program?
  2. Very good take. McVay has always stood out to me. Of course, he had opportunities at Washington so on and so on prior. There’s a lot to the process. I think KY is seeing a small shift right now in coaching. Not just in football, but I see it in basketball (boys and girls both). Some new positions are opening all across, some coaches are hanging up the whistle, and I think it’s important that older coaches are preparing and helping the younger guys along (As I know they already do.) From what I read on here and see on social media, KY and it’s high school coaches are doing things right.
  3. Great thread and I've enjoyed reading the remarks from everyone here. For me, there is no ideal age for a head coach. I think really, it just depends on the school, the fit, the expectations, the community, I could go on and on. I have always been a firm believer that the NFL sets the tone for the rest of football. Sean McVay was 30 years old when he was hired by the Rams as Head Coach. Without a doubt, he was coaching men older than he, and he had a staff full of assistant coaches who could have doubled his age. College coordinators are become younger by the day. Back to my point, it just depends on what you're looking for. High school legends like Dudley Hilton, Larry French, Chuck Smith, Sam Harp, etc etc are not available at most places. That's a fact. I think younger coaches are looking for more opportuities, right or wrong, and it's the responsibility of the middle-aged head coaches to begin training for the future. So what is the best age for a head coach? Who knows.
  4. I would even like to see former assistant coach Billy Harris throw his name in it. I have no idea what Billy is up to now since he left teaching. Was a great coach and even player back in the day.
  5. The bottom two names have been a part of Lincoln Girls Basketball for years. Both coached with Coach McWhorter during their 2 Sweet 16 Runs in 2012 and 2013. I think either would be a great move for Lincoln, if they went that direction.
  6. Mark Stoops came to Berea KY to watch Damien Harris and Madison Southern play South Laurel. He was THE ONLY D1 athlete on the field. This was not a "top tier" game that week. Coaches will find you. It's that simple. Coaches would have found Tavy at Garrard, Dawson at Danville, and Mari at Danville. Is what it is. As far as the main purpose of this thread, Danville school system needs to look at some things. But, I do think they can find a way throguh it.
  7. I want kids to have every opportunity that they deserve. With that said, I think it's sad that society has gotten to a place that allows high school students to essentially turn into free-agents. Program loyalty is gone. He's talented enough. He'll get major D1 offers regardless of his high school. Any high school coach who tells him otherwise is more concerned about their own win/loss record instead of being worried about the athlete. Maybe I'm old school. Rant over, have a good one guys!
  8. I don’t necessarily know if that’s the direction Anderson will go or not. Based off this thread it sounds as if they have more options than previously thought. Coach Fields is absolutely qualified for the job, tremendous Coach!
  9. Not a word. I don’t expect this job to get as much attention as other jobs this cycle. Can easily see a first year head coach or a guy ready to finish a career end up here. We will see!
  10. I'd say the state average age of Head Coaches is going to drop significantly in the upcoming years.
  11. 4-27 in last 3 seasons. 0 playoff wins. With the new district alignment, the teams Anderson will have in their district went a combined 36-14, and had 3 teams in a Region-Championship game. Not exactly a perfect situation for a new coach to walk into. I'm not sure, but it really seems like Anderson County is just in a bad spot all around. Either hire a guy with experience, or blow it all up and go fresh. Glad I'm not making the decision! Goodluck to coach Palmer as he moves on to new things!
  12. Congrats to Coach Rogers! Glad to see this coach getting a chance. His name has been mentioned for numerous jobs over the last couple of years, so it's good he has a chance!
  13. This can be a 7 or 8 win season for Coach Crutchfield and the Golden Lions, if things go there way in a few toss ups. I expect a good season for Garrard!
  14. Just read this on another forum. Heard there is interest in the position, but I'm extremely interested to see who actual candidates end up being via interviews and so on. Still hearing only 7-8 TRUE applications were sent in, but that number may have changed. At this point in a year, will be interested to see what type of coaches will move. Exciting times!
  15. Did the administration indicate any type of timeline?
  16. At work tonight and on break, I read on another thread that the job is going offline this week? Any truth to that? Still hearing a few applicants, but nothing like the jobs that came open in their surrounding area. I would say maximum 6 applicants now. Interviews soon I would think
