  1. Is there a timeline for this job? Usually things leak, but I'm not hearing anything out of the community right now. Nerves.
  2. Was sort of thinking the same thing. I'm not sure it is right now.
  3. Saw on another post that the number of applicants is higher than previously thought? Maybe the job has more interest than we thought.
  4. Lincolns Record under the last 3 head coaches: Mike Settles: 22-43 (1-4 in Playoffs) 6 seasons 1-9 2008, 2-8 2009 4-7 (0-1 Playoffs) 2010, 5-7 (1-1 Playoffs) 2011, 5-6 (0-1 Playoffs) 2012 , 5-6 (0-1 Playoffs) 2013 Travis Leffew: 10-34 (1-2 Playoffs) 4 Seasons 3-7 2014, 3-9 (1-1 Playoffs) 2015, 1-10 2016, 3-8 (0-1 Playoffs) 2017 Spencer Crutchfield: 21-23 (2-4 Playoffs, 2 District Runners Up) 7-5, (1-1 Playoffs) 2018, 3-8 (0-1 Playoffs) 2019, 5-4 (0-1 Playoffs) 2020 (Covid Year), 6-6 (1-1 Playoffs) 2021 I wanted to show these numbers for comparison purposes only. I saw a post earlier that said "Lincoln has been a bust for 20 years" so I began researching. Coach Crutchfield was hired in May of 2018. He kept Levi Rogers from Coach Leffews staff, but changed his role to defensive coordinator. He hired Daniel Cooper, who was the current Offensive Coordinator/Asst Head Coach at Lincoln Middle. Both assistants were a part of the improvement in the Lincoln program it appears. Both assistants have received good comments on this thread, and when you talk to anyone in the community, it is understandable why. Both seem to be respected as coaches by their peers. Hiring either of these will make perfect sense, as others have noted, they have been in Lincoln Football their entire lives it appears. I will disagree with the post that said Lincoln has been a bust. Yes, they struggled under Settles, and even worse under Leffew, but the Crutchfield era put Lincoln on the map in a hurry. Both assistants had a hand in that. Josh Jaggers is a great guy, and a good football coach. Brett Baierlein is well respected in the Garrard community. Boone Goldsmith comes from a coaching legend in Eastern KY. Levi Rogers was a great player and came back to coach for the program. Daniel Cooper played for the program, earned his name very early in coaching, and is teaching currently for the district. You see what I'm saying? Lincoln is going to hire a good coach y'all. I can make a case for every name mentioned. Let's stop with the "kids won't play" or "the program won't exist" scare tactics. My thoughts for the day. I have to go to work! 🤣
  5. I'm shocked to see a hire wasn't made this week. Maybe the winter storm impacted that. 4 more (at my count) high schools hired their coaches this week.
  6. Seems like a good guy but hottest name in the state may be a stretch! I'm still uncertain about the fit at Lincoln if this ends up happening.
  7. Jagger's seems like a new name mentioned for this one. Should this be a surprise or is this expected? Any opinions out of Larue on this?
  8. Sounds like support is behind Cooper and Rogers, but applications have not been made public. Other applicants could have support also but until it's public, then the community seems happy with the direction of the program under the leadership of one of the assistants. General opinion is the community does not want a complete blow up and start over. Now, things could change. But this is what I was told last night and was confirmed by other friends in the area this morning. I'll be surprised if Lincoln hires a complete outsider at this point.
  9. I'm hearing things will get active this week.
  10. Is this job still posted on the district webpage? Oh, and Happy New Year to all of you! I hope to hear some more information on this job soon.
  11. I reached out to some people from Stanford and this is the information they gave, so take it for what it's worth. Levi Rogers and Daniel Cooper both applied for the head coaching spot. Rogers was the defensive coordinator for the last 4 seasons, and Cooper was the WRs/DBs Coach/Head JV Coach for the last 4 seasons. Both are qualified and well respected with the players. According to a different thread, it also seems like Rogers was interviewed at Knox Central? I read this through a different thread, but it was not mentioned by anyone I spoke with. Can anyone confirm this? There doesn't seem to be a timeline for the Lincoln job, but, things around them are moving fast, so I hope they make a good hire soon.
  12. Who would be on the list right now? I went back on the thread and have seen Rogers (Current Asst), Cooper (Current Asst), Clevenger, Sheron, Goldsmith, and Lucas mentioned. Are all of these legitimate candidates? I think with the holiday season. things are going to be quiet.
  13. Any update on this one? Seems quiet. I know with the holidays and schools out, may not be much news early.
  14. Two names I keep hearing from people at Lincoln were DC Levi Rogers and WRs/DBs Coach Daniel Cooper. Rogers started with Leffew and Cooper came in with Crutchfield if I understand it all. Both seem to be really well liked and respected. No idea if either will apply but that's the two names from the current staff I was told. 🤷‍♂️
  15. I don't mean this as any type of disrespect to Clay, but I think Lincoln needs to hire a Coach who is planning on staying at Lincoln and building the program. Rogers has been mentioned, I know there will be a couple others similar to him that are interested. Those guys should be priority first, IMO.
  16. Congrats to Spencer and Garrard, great for both sides. He'll have as much success as he wants. Great hire! As for Lincoln, I'd interview any assistants interested in the job first. Lincoln may struggle next year without Davis and Amon but they can build for the next few years. I would think it'd be easier to maintain success with familiar guys around. Good luck Lincoln!
  17. I'd give him a call, but not sure he'd be my ONLY call.
  18. I reached out to some people around Lincolns program and they all said there were a couple assistants who would be interested they think. From just initial conversations, either would be a great hire. I didn't realize he was family with Crutchfield so he may be going with him also.
  19. It will be next season and probably the year after, but I can't see it being that way long-term. Crutchfield will do a great job, as he did with Lincoln! Garrard will be very consistent.
  20. This will be Lincoln's 6th Head Coach since 2000. Whoever the hire is (If Crutchfield is really out) they need to make sure it's a guy prepared to build a program and stay with them. They may be down a year or two but they will always have potential.
  21. We could be on a new thread discussing a different job being available if what I hear is true. I also think that we get the announcement either way this week, sooner than later. Again, the names I mentioned earlier are what I would consider "out of the running" but this hire would be a big hire for Garrard. I'm not speculating, It's just not my place to make the formal announcement.
  22. Tell us this. When is an appropriate timeline to start getting a better idea? Would have to think this week right?
  23. Who would you all consider a "finalist" if you had to guess? Stonebreaker, Tyler Ray, and Jaggers are out, from what I understand.
  24. Heartbreaking news out of Mayfield and western KY. Prayers for everyone out there! Hug your loved ones right.
