I’ve read quite a bit this season about CovCath and their domination of KY opponents. I believe they have had a running clock in every game this year against a KY school.

I can’t see why Louisville catholic schools don’t schedule home and home games with CovCath. Trinity & STX play teams from Cincinnati & Indianapolis every year while a game against CovCath would appear to be a natural. Maybe in a couple years DeSales could even get involved once they get their numbers up.

I just don’t understand why a series hasn’t developed between these schools. Maybe someone can fill me in on the history if this has been discussed in the past.

Keep it in perspective. CovCath has an atypical team this year.

X played them a few years back. I would be in favor of dropping fairdale off schedule and adding Covington Catholic.

Because before this year Covcath wouldn't have been able to compete with those schools. This year's team at least could compete. I think Covcath and St. X would be a coin flip game that could go either way. While I think Trinity would have been a good game but Trinity wins by 2 or 3 tds.

Everyone is right. Trinity and X would have crushed CCH in the past. CCH is having an atypical year but their program is on the up and up. They are building a strong feeder program. Their youth program plays in the GCL feeder league with feeder schools that send the kids to Cincinnati X, Moeller, Elder, and Lasalle. CCH’s 7-8th grade Team actually were the league champs this year. I’d give it a few years to see where CCH is and then reevaluate to see if they could compete with Louisville Catholic schools on the regular. I hope so!!!

This is probably the best answer you can get. CovCath, while amazing in the past and amazing this year, has been underwhelming in recent years. T has enough games against over-matched teams in district, when going out of district they usually look for more consistency and overall higher level of competition. CovCath, if they keep it up, would be worth consideration I would suspect.

Mea culpa, misread that.

This year's CovCath team is not really comparable to the program's recent years. Last year's team was very good but not at this level. X and especially Trinity always are at a level that CovCath couldn't get to. I like this coaching staff to keep them on the upward climb, that is the biggest difference in high school sports. They may be there is a couple years, we need to wait and see.

Answered my own question via KHSAA website. 595 for Covcath, 1155 for Trinity, and 1344 for St. X. Now those #'s alone make one realize that to annually to compete with these bigger programs would be a tremendous task.

Not to mention, and obviously no shot whatsoever at the Louisville schools, but if Cov Cath was looking to make their schedule more difficult, a home and home with one of the GCL schools probably makes more sense strictly for traveling purposes.
