St. Xavier @ Bowling Green 9/2
Adopted Purple replied to Blockbuster's topic in KY Football (High School)
Bowling Greens offense will be hard for any Kentucky school, not named Trinity, to handle. Last year St. X got ahead early, by running it down the Purples throat. If they are unable to get an early lead, then it could be a long night for the Tigers. The Purples are going to score some points. Can St. X keep up? I don't think so. -
How many of the BGP 5A top ten lose this week?

Christian County Covington Catholic Pulaski County -
4A #3 Wayne County at 5A North Laurel
Adopted Purple replied to DragonFire's topic in KY Football (High School)
North Laurel was playing some pretty good football at the end of last year. They lost a lot to graduation, but I think they still have enough left to pull this one out. 14-7 North Laurel -
4A #7 Knox Central vs. 3A Waggener (at Corbin)
Adopted Purple replied to DragonFire's topic in KY Football (High School)
This one is a toss up for me. I heard Waggener has several D-1 players on their roster. They had a big win last week and Knox Central lost. 21-14 Waggener -
4A #1 South Warren vs. 6A Apollo

This one will be over by the end of the 1st quarter. 56-0 Spartans. -
Some kids that live in the county go to Bowling Green High School. This has been going on for decades. The two school boards had an agreement. Last year they reached a new agreement. Everything is out in the open and all is fair. By the way, there are some city kids going to county schools. Parents want their kids to go to the best schools available. I feel they have a right to go to any school they want, but I'm okay with what they worked out. I think it's around 50 students a year. There are thousands of Purples that live in the county and they would like to see their kids go to Bowling Green High, but can't because of where they live. But to say the Bowling Green roster has 50% county kids on is just plain wrong and frankly ignorant.

I don't blame South Warren for the Warren Centrals downfall. I blame the school board. Even though the building and redistricting of South Warren was the cause of the Dragons downfall, you can't blame the athletes and coaching staffs at South Warren. They just get lumped into the conversations. It's adults that are at fault, not kids.

Caldwell County/Franklin-Simpson predictions
Adopted Purple replied to gchs_uk9's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think Franklin Simpson wins this game. The Wildcats returned the bulk of their starters from last year and I think they are much better than last year. If their passing game ever developes, they can play with anybody. 28-21 Franklin Simpson -
I think you're right on yhe money. Spreading that Spartan love all over the county, except for Warren East. They already had enough problems.

Southwestern - Danville Predictions
Adopted Purple replied to mcpapa's topic in KY Football (High School)
Southwestern should win this one handily. I know their fans think they will make it to Bowling Green this December. If they don't win, they can cancel those reservations. SW 35-14. -
Good stuff Purple88. South Warren will have plenty of time prove how good they are this year. There is an old saying, "play somebody". South needs to schedule competitive teams, if they want to be considered as one of the top teams in the state, especially in power rankings. They have 5A numbers and a 3A schedule.

5A #1 Bowling Green vs #3 Christian County
Adopted Purple replied to JDEaston's topic in KY Football (High School)
I was thinking along those lines earlier, but Caldwell County scored 34 on them and I'm pretty sure the Purples defense much better than Caldwell County. Anybody know how many of Christian County's players play both ways? I don't think it will be close. -

I'm with you, Tank. Hard to go against them at home. I'll say 17-10 Trinity. -

5A #1 Bowling Green vs #3 Christian County

I hope you're right. I don't like to give the other teams fodder for their bulletin board. I don't think they will have a running clock in nine games this season, like one of my purple brothers suggested. This could be one of the best purples team ever, but it's still early in the season. I do have to admit that you are one of the best at scouting talent. We have played a lot of BG vs WC games and you're usually spot on. -

I don't think it will be like the blowout last year, but do see the Purples winning by 3 touchdowns. -

Good stuff pp92. If everything was played on a level playing field, you wouldn't need to recruit. When you have to play teams with twice or three times as many boys at their school, it can be frustrating. I remember our first win over St. Xavier. We took several beatings but learned from them and it has made the Purples a power school in the state of Kentucky. Kids and their parents want to go to these kind of schools. You really don't have to recruit. -
5A #5 Owensboro vs. 4A Warren Central Predictions
Adopted Purple replied to JDEaston's topic in KY Football (High School)
If Warren Central scores, it will be a moral voctory for the Dragons. No way they stay close to Owensboro. I'm just hoping no one gets hurt. Trying to play 4A football with 25 or so players is really dangerous in my opinion. -

Thats a tough district out west. Whichever team that comes out of there will be no pushover.
