macdon Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 FS with over 400 yards of offense and 85 yard KO return. Portland with 4 first downs and 61 yards of offense. It's not going to be a good year for Portland.
FSfan Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 FS looks good so far but the competition gets much better next week at Caldwell Co. FS always has speed but this year they have size and improved line play on both sides of the ball.
Adopted Purple Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I think the Wildcats get the win at Caldwell County next week.
Figs Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Even though this was cross-state rival Portland, it's sounds like it was just another scrimmage. Season gets under way next week vs. Caldwell. Shapes up to be a good game.
macdon Posted August 20, 2016 Author Posted August 20, 2016 Even though they no longer play in the prisons yard Caldwell is a tough venue.
Figs Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Even though they no longer play in the prisons yard Caldwell is a tough venue. Great description....lol
Toothpick Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Even though they no longer play in the prisons yard Caldwell is a tough venue. Back in the late 1980's we were taken there to change before playing Caldwell. That was the last time I was there
macdon Posted August 20, 2016 Author Posted August 20, 2016 First time I saw that place I was a freshman. When I watched "The Longest Yard" with Burt Reynolds I thought, "That's Caldwell County".
PtownDude Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 First time I saw that place I was a freshman. When I watched "The Longest Yard" with Burt Reynolds I thought, "That's Caldwell County". Caldwell County still plays soccer at Butler Stadium. The wall is still there, but things look a little different on the inside these days. :lol2:
macdon Posted August 20, 2016 Author Posted August 20, 2016 Some great old stadiums in the West. Russellville McWright at Tilghman War Memorial Rash Shadetree Stadium in Franklin is starting its 50th season. What gets me about that is I played in there the second year. All still in use. Gone are Butler, Old WKU Stadium, Walnut Street in Hoptown
