  1. I keep wondering how a team, that only returns 8 starters and have a new head coach, can be the top ranked team in the state. I'll go with Trinity.
  2. Looks like John Hardin has another great team and I'm sure they are motivated. Coach Lewis was a great hire and will have his team ready. Hopefully, we will see a rematch with the Purples this year.
  3. Looking forward to your posts DragonFire. Great job, as always. The Purples defensive backfield will include a new face in 2013. Coach Wallace announced that Nacarius Fant will see significant time as a defensive back. This should be interesting. My apologies to Hellbird.
  4. The best thing about preseason rankings is that they will soon be over.
  5. The last few years Trinity would have been a top ten team in every state in the country.
  6. According to Dallas Jackson and Rivals, St. X. is the 40th ranked team in the nation and #1 team in Kentucky. Trinity is ranked 45th. A little added pressure for the new coach.
  7. Both teams will get a good idea of where they stand after this game. A loss wouldn't hurt either teams chances at a state championship. Both teams have to face a very good Lexington Catholic team, before they play each other. Both teams have lost several coaches over the past year. It will be a knock down drag out fight, just like every other time these two teams have met. It's high school football at it's best and may the best team win.
  8. Revelancy is in the eye of the beholder and apparently you ain't seeing it.
  9. That's funny. The title of this thread says nothing about Active win streak.
  10. Bowling Green Purples have won 30 games in a row. Longest win streak in the state.
  11. I don't see their QB being much of a threat through the air. He was 22-46 and 2 td's. I am a fan of Whitley County and hope they do well.
  12. Blowouts are not fun, especially for the losing team, but I never hear the players complaining about having to play another game.
  13. Trinity and St. X. are in the same boat. They both start new QB's. I would guess we will know pretty quick which is better running their team. I think it's a toss up right now.
  14. Wow! Somebody needs to get out and find some players. They are a 5A school! You know they are there. Hopefully, making it to the state championship game last year, will get more kids excited about Cooper Football.
  15. The players that the Purples and other large teams platoon on the field are not the best players on offense and defense. Nacarius Fant is a great defensive back, but he doesn't play on defense. The players that have platooned are better prepared because they can concentrate on one side of the ball. Those good players are better, if they are rested. Mediocre players get better faster, when they play. If everyone does their job, it works. I have watched Bowling Green win a state title in 1995 with lots of players going both ways and despite all that talent, it was a much harder road to win it. If you have the players to platoon, use them. If not, play what you have. It's all about numbers, really.
  16. I agree, but wasn't it his Freshman season that John Hardin played in the championship?
  17. Coach Long will have the Raiders ready, but South Warren may play spoiler in their opening game. The Spartans will be hard to beat this year.
  18. I have to disagree. Even the best atheletes get tired after playing the whole game, especially playing both sides of the ball. Plus, playing lots of subs is the reason teams like Highlands, Trinity, and Bowling Green are able to be good every year. They have experienced kids coming back every year. They never have to start over. Last years Bowling Green team is a good example. They only returned 4 starters, but had many players that had game experience and were able to win after losing most of their starters. I'm not saying you can't win with players going both ways, but it's easier with numbers.
  19. It would be nice to see three Kentucky teams in the top 100. I believe we have three, maybe four, legitimate top 100 teams this year.
  20. I will be rooting for the Dragons, except for the game with the Purples. They are our toughest rival and I have the greatest respect for their program and Coach Rogers. If not for Bowling Green's run the last couple of years, they would have almost certainly won their 1st state championship in football. I know that championship will come, but I hope they can wait just a little bit longer. When the Purples and Dragons play, all bets are off and anything can happen.
  21. Just thought I'd bask in the sunlight, while I can.
  22. That game will be played on September 6th at St. X.
