article Bowling Green Purples
Adopted Purple replied to DragonFire's topic in KY Football (High School)
Great article DragonFire. This coming from a Warren Central fan. How classy is that? Bowling Green has a chance to push the program to a new level this year. They are already getting some national exposure. They are ranked #1 in the state and 24th nationally by CalPreps in their preseason poll. Being ranked above Trinity tells us that this isn't much of a poll, but we will take it.- 15 replies

Mayfield to meet McCracken County in football

This is great to see. Coach Morris isn't afraid to schedule anybody. My kind of guy. -
Was 1994 Trinity the best Shamrock team ever?
Adopted Purple replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
The 2011 Trinity team was the best high school team ever in the state of Kentucky. -
Here is my top five for preseason. Trinity Highlands Bowling Green St. X. Lexington Catholic All of these teams are powerhouses and return lots of talent. All of these teams have very tough schedules, especially Trinity. I'm not going to sit here and say my team is the best right now, because no one knows. I'm rooting for all of these teams, except when they play my Purples. I'm just proud to have this many great team in the Commonwealth. The rankings will work themselves out.

The Boone County fans are going love their new coach. -
I just wanted to throw that out there. Mainly, for my buddy PurplePride.

I would just like to point out that Bowling Green returns more starters and did not lose their quarterback.

Coach Petrino knows talent. WKU will be a top 25 team in a few short years. It only makes it sweeter using Kentucky boys to get there.

What team is better coached, Mayfield or Beechwood?
Adopted Purple replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
I agree. It's too close to call. Both are great coaches! -
I remember when Mercer County won a state championship. It was right after a merger with Harrodsburg. Their enrollment was much larger than the class they were playing in. They took advantage as I think South Warren is trying to do. Get it while you can.

Bowling Green will be playing at the Southeastern 7 on 7 invitational in Daulton Georgia. They beat them all down there last year.

Losing Coach Griff is the great unknown! I guess time will tell.

I think 5A is Bowling Green's to lose. They may lose this year, but I don't think it will be to a 5A team. Their out of district schedule is very tough with Lexington Catholic, Owensboro, McCallie and Blackmon Tn. and St. X. I personally don't think they will lose any, but I'm a big homer. I don't expect others to feel the same way. I think they will be much improved from last year and they were pretty good last year.

I agree. Warren Central reloads very well and they have a great coach in Rogers. John Hardin and Warren Central have been the #2 & #3 team in 5A the last couple of years and think it will be the same this year.
-
I believe South Warren will make some noise in 3A this year. They were tough last year and have most of their players coming back. definitely a top 10 school.

Kentucky's Top 15 Football Dynasties
Adopted Purple replied to Ram's topic in KY Football (High School)
No argument from me. I just wanted to point out that they have only met twice. As for 2011, 2012 and 2013 for that matter, we will never know. I will say that I and many others believe the 2011 team was the best in school history. There is no comparison as far as program history. Trinity and Highlands are in a league of their own. -
Kentucky's Top 15 Football Dynasties
Adopted Purple replied to Ram's topic in KY Football (High School)
Bowling Green and Highlands have played twice. Both were for the state championship. Bowling Green won in 1995 and Highlands won in 2007. Highlands and Trinity are definitely the top two teams in Kentucky football history. Purple fans are happy where they landed in this thread. -

Thank you sir. I'm going to have to crawl out of the bleachers and come down to the sidelines and introduce myself. I've seen you down there for 20 years. Quite rude on my part.
