I might be totally wrong but I don't see the Birds being any better than Ryle much less beat them down. In fact if Dale wasn't coaching Highlands I would bet Ryle would win. But Dale is coaching so it should be a great game.

Football/Basketball Stars

Jake Giesler- Newport Central Catholic -
Conditioning will be of great concern for the Breds. Looks like it's going to be hot so the deaper team has the advantage. NCC might need to be up a couple scores going into the 4th to win this one.

Some of what has been said about No. KY kids being overlooked is true. I believe it has to do with the player rankings that come out of Louisville and Lexington. There's not many No. KY players even mentioned and I know there as good as some of the high ranked players in KY. I've seen it first hand in AAU play. With that said however, if you go to a National event, like Orlando, you have your eyes opened with the amount of talent and size of the kids around the country. 200 teams and almost every team had two 6'8" athletic kids that the D1 coaches are after. We have alot of very good smart players in NO. KY, but D1 players are good, smart and big.

Verst and Rieger are no surprise, don't know Green, do they live in Ft. Thomas? -

Should be able to beat other teams down the court with their athleticism but will have to get the rebound first. I'm sure Ron will press and press and press. Will miss Sandfoss more on defense than offense, she was a very good defender. Looking forward in seeing her at NKU. -

I was told the entire St. Joes 8th grade team is going to NCC. Is that not true and were'nt they pretty good like they usually are? -

The key to the Breds season might lie with how well Brian Doyle and Zach Ryan play. Both are very long and athletic and at times good outside shooters. Andy Miller also could be a surprise if he continues to improve. -
Boone County's Trevan Brown Offer to Miami
School Yard replied to BACKDOOR's topic in KY Football (High School)
Congrats Treven. Good kid and student. I would imagine he'll play guard or tackle at Miami, don't you think? -
It's amazing to me that anyone could be informed enough to put together a top 10 this early. You'd have to be really up on a lot of teams plus alot of time on your hands.

Bellevue / Highlands Predictions 5/26
School Yard replied to Rockstar's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Should be a good game if Piper pitches. Don't see either team doing any good in the Regional tournament however. Easy game for the winner of another district who plays 36th championship loser. -
Next Campbell County Coach

Tony B. would be a great choice but he took a varsity assistant position in Ohio some where, don't quote me but I think it is at Turpin. -
Highlands 6 Newport Central Catholic 5
School Yard replied to katbird's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Year after year NCC's talent is waisted. Nothing new this year, fundamental baseball is becoming a thing of the past. Congrats to Highlands, you came to play. -
I agree, it doesn't make sense to play another KY team that you've played every year forever. What's the fun in that. I don't see many neutral fans coming over to watch.

Does every thread have to turn into a Highlands thread? There not even playing.

Maybe they could hire one of the parents that ran Code out of town, they know everything about basketball. -

I'd say 84-85 with a nice breaking ball also. If he gets a better handle on his control, he'll be very good. -
I believe the main reason NewCath and Highlands don't play anymore is all the fights that happen after the games between the students. I know that the NewCath football players are not even permitted to go up to a Highlands game during a NCC bye week because of that reason. I know the players would love to play but the student fans have been out of control.

That's great, I didn't hear he got a scholarship. Last thing I heard he was a preferred walk-on. -
Holmes Casting Wide Net in Coaching Search
School Yard replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Wimzie does want to be head coach. He's been there 16 years, that's experience with the Holmes program that no one else will care about more. He has shown his dedication to the school. They'd be making a mistake if they didn't hire him. -
It's obvious that you haven't seen Kelly play. He's very good on both sides of the ball, and that's without any rest.
