Football moving to Spring???

Featured Replies

I was reading Mike Fields article today and it got me thinking about all sports in Kentucky. Football currently has Spring practice and their season in the Fall. I know that with heat related issues growing, could it ever be considered to move Football to the Spring. You could start practice in March and play games in April, May and have playoffs in June. The temperatures would be much better, this would also allow baseball to move to the Fall and they could practice in July and play in August and September, have playoffs and be done by October 15th for basketball. Just a thought? What would be the Pros and Cons of a move like this?? Other than tradition of course!

We have almighty soccer in the fall.

Soccer should be a spring sport.

He said "mens" sport. :clap::D:clap:

Because of college recruiting it will never happen.

I would agree that soccer would be better in the spring (for weather reasons), but it's rare that a soccer player would also play football (besides place kicking). It is very common for both soccer and football players to play baseball, tennis, or run track. So it obviously would work better keeping both in the fall.

Fall is for football. I wouldn't mind seeing soccer move to the spring, but understand that the weather problems there are the spring rains which can put a real damper on that season.

The fall is football time and always will be IMHO.

Football is and always will be a fall sport.

I think they should eliminate high school basketball and just have AAU from March thru June. That is all anyone cares about anymore anyway.

I would think colleges would be able to recruit better in the spring because they would not have to be worried about game planning like they do in the fall.

I also said to move baseball to the fall so that it wouldn't conflict with football if it was moved to spring.

Currently, Spring has Baseball and Track. Fall has football, soccer, golf, and cross country. If football was moved you could get more athletes to play and you could get them better exposure for college.

FF = Football Fall

SS = Soccer Spring

It wouldn't impact many kids if this happened, however, Highlands had a young man several years ago that chose to play and star on the football field and he would have been an excellent soccer player as well. This would have served him well.

Some people won't be happy until football goes the entire school year, play 24 games a year.:ylsuper:
