Holmes next coach will be......
School Yard replied to 4pointplay's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Coach Wimzie was the glue that kept that program together, he'd be a great choice for head coach. -
Hayes impressed me last year, he has very good instincts and good balance. He should give Kelly a break now and then. Jack G. is back and he's at least 6'10" 330 lbs. Tough to run up the middle against the Breds whan he's at nose.

Cain and Kelly are definitely 2 of the top in NK. Tallon might end up on the line.

Jeremiah Johnson To Campbellsville
School Yard replied to gametime's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I can't believe he chose Campbellsville over NKU. -
You can't always go by numbers, Foster's were better than first teamer Ricardo Johnson.

Tell me how Jake Rieger get's player of the year in the 10th and Zollo, Stenzel and Setty get honorable mention and he doesn't.:idunno:

Yes, Trevan still plays. Should give Giesler and Thelen some time playing a 4 were they'll play in college.
-
Gilbert and Pawsat are not playing this year to concentrate on football. Pike I believe is staying down and playing with the 16's. Schutte, Giesler, Smith, Brown are all back joined by Thelen (CovCath) , 2 players from Senica HS, and a player from Frankfort,KY. Not sure, but there's a couple more I'm forgetting. I don't think the King twins are playing this year either.

He's still a kid and as is probably still growing, give him a break. He'll get tougher when he becomes a man.

How in the world does a school the size of Highlands need to bring up 7th and 8th graders to play freshmen baseball?
-
If not Dave, Who? Newport was suppose to be good and they were, same with Holmes and Boone. Dave won his district without the best talent. What else can you judge a coach on. How about Grant Brannen at NewCath. Beat both Highlands and Newport in the district tournament and won the conference.

Talent Level = Size of School?
School Yard replied to mcraycraft's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I agree that the size of the school doesn't necessarily mean more talented players, but if 1 in 10 kids are big and you have 1000 boys to 200 boys, you'll probably have 5 times as many big kids to choose from. -

Pipe's is a great kid, he loves baseball as much as anyone. Great to see him being able to continue playinging. Good luck. -
9th Region Champ Newport
School Yard replied to mcraycraft's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
They have to continue to play as a team. Sometimes when they got behind they got away from their offense and played too much one on one. They also must rebound. I don't think they have that one dominant rebounder, so they all have to hit the boards. -

I certainly respect and understand where your coming from. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. -
10th Region Tournament Atmosphere
School Yard replied to hchs's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
BOK gets anyone who wants to come see a good game a chance. Lets face it, there's many who will not or can not attend a game where you have to be there 60 minutes before the game to get a decent seat. High school gyms are great don't get me wrong, but half the fun of getting to the Region is playing in a great facility. Ask the kids. -

No doubt they both deserved to be on it but Meyer is a Senior, Giesler will have his day next year. -

I drove down from Northern KY to watch the game and it was worth it. Great game and atmosphere. But that leads me to a question for the 10th Region faithful. Why move the game from the Bank of KY Center at NKU? We got to the game at 6:25 and got one of the last parking places in gravel. Sat up top, a good seat but a hard bleacher. It had to be 80 degrees in the place. Now I'm a huge basketball fan and still had fun, but the casual fan and maybe some Grandparents won't or can't go. I would also think that since MC has won 7 os the last 9 Regional titles that playing them at home would not be the best situation. I'm sure I'm not seeing it so please enlighten me. -

The inner-city kids should be held to the same high standards as every other student athlete in the 9th region, no more or less. -

You forgot Shawn Meyer from NCC on All-tournament team. -
Best teams in the 9th region next year?
School Yard replied to GFB64's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
No NCC in there, why Highlands so high, they graduated 10 seniors. -

It was very disappointing to see the Holmes players leave the court before the trophey presentation, only to have their coaching staff have to go into the locker room after them. Also one of Holmes better players didn't shake any of the Newport players hands after the game. I hated that it had to end that way. -
Newport/Covington Catholic Predictions
School Yard replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
CovCath needs a big game from Wellbrock to win, he's their most athletic player that can keep up with Newport. Newport struggles against good post players, so Thelen should have a good offensive game to keep it interesting. -
I wasn't able to get to the game last night, was St. Henry that good or was Ryle overlooking them?
