You can't play 3 games in a week like in basketball. 14 weeks is plenty. The finals need to be played on Thanksgiving weekend, that was always special.
How about eliminating the bye week and have 3 teams get in with the #1 seed getting a bye. That way you'd get rid of the #1 vs. #4 blowouts. The regular season games really mean something then.
The current system is a joke. I agree, the first round games should be eliminated. Nobody wants to get beat by 50 and nobody wants to watch it. Including the fans of the winning team. Most of these games could be 70 or 80 point games really. It's a complete waste of time.
Good changes, I don't mind the Technical but the coach shouldn't have to be seated the rest of the game, and certainly not ejected on a second technical in this case.
Kelly did not play and is questionable for next week. Hopefully he'll be back for the playoffs, would be tough for NewCath to beat a good team without their best player.
CC needs a new field but certainly not a new facility. It's a great place to watch a game. Brossart could also play there and help pay for the field by the rent they'll pay. What's the problem?
I don't know about offensive or defensive players of the year but the two most valuable players are Kelly from NewCath and Pike from Dixie because they both are very good on both sides of the ball.
Two key players you've failed to mention and both could easily start are Zach Ryan and Andy Miller. Zach is long 6'4" kid who can shoot the 3. Andy is a strong 6'2" and can get it done around the basket. Look for both of these guys to be a big key for NCC's success.
On film it appears it was just great timing on Hayes part. He hit the punt receiver just after he touched the ball. It would have been a great play in college, but I'm not sure about the high school rules. He might have to give him a yard to catch it.
