Highlands 58 Newport Central Catholic 44
School Yard replied to armsrace's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Not that it's that big a deal but you must have been sitting on the Highlands side of the court and didn't have a good view. Watson did what he was suppose to do and get the NCC player off him. He just did it a little too late and the Ref over reacted because he probably didn't want an already physical game get out of hand. -

You through an elbow, especially after the play is over, you'll probably get the big T. And that is what happened. -

They could meet in the All A finals,in the District, and possibly the Regional tournament. -

It's a shame that both the NCC boy's and Highlands boy's teams also play tomorrow night, so the crowd won't be what it should be. I don't understand why such big games should be played the same night. NCC boys play Newport right down the street. It's nuts! -
NKYBOY's 9th Region All Decade Team

I'm not saying Zimmerman wasn't a very good player because he was. But Krebs was alot bigger and could rebound. Zimmerman could have been even better if he didn't have to do most of the scoring for NewCath also. He didn't really play a typical point guard roll for them. -

Sewell would have my vote if I had one. -

Newport, good place to watch a game. -

What's going on with Sandfoss, she doesn't seem to be scoring as much as last year? Has she taking more of a point guard role? -

Great win for Trinity. I've been telling my son all along that Sewell is the best player I saw last year. It sounds like he's really playing well again this year. Miami is getting a very good player. -
Highlands/Newport predictions

I would be surprised if Highlands beats Newport without Kowolonek and Grubbs. Plus Grote has to be rusty from not playing. I would think Newport has to be the favorite in this one. I guess we'll see just how deep Highlands really is. -
All State Football Team of the Decade

Wow! 17 of 25 mentioned signed in state with either KY or Louisville. Thought those teams might have been better over the last 10 years. -

Gilbert will be the key, his ability to hit the three just might be the difference. -
Mason County/Highlands Predictions

It's sad to say but it all depends on how the game is officiated. Highlands is more physical and a little deeper, but Mason is quicker overall and more athletic. It should be a very good game. If Highlands doesn't shoot the ball better than they did against Dixie, Mason will win. -
I think basketball was more fun to watch when it was a finesse game. It almost got out of control in the 4th all the pushing on defense. It really does take away from the offensive game. That's why the games are in the 40's anymore.

NewCath only made 2 threes all night, both by Schmidt. -

Hard to believe Jake Smith from NewCath was not at least honerable mention. I didn't see a better defensive lineman all year. -

No, just an off night. Too much retreat and not enough sleep over the weekend I suspect. Great shot by Jolly, surprised NCC let him get the ball. -

I say more like a 35-40 footer. Sure seemed like it took 7-8 seconds for CC to inbound the ball. -

I really didn't feel like the teams were slowing it down as much as the 10th Region refs just letting alot of the very physical play on defense go without calling fouls. Especially out front that made it difficult to get into your offence. Those hand checks and chest bumps are fouls in the 9th Region, and they were not called until the 4th quarter tonight. Great croud, BB had to have the entire school there. Felt like the old days. -

Yes, most games are not horrible and nobody can get every call correct. Who said they were consistant. Niether team had any idea how to play the game. Obviously you weren't at the game. -
What's the deal with Avery, is he not getting many shots on this team? Doesn't seem to be scoring as much as expected.

It was a very sloppy game because the refs were horrible for both teams all night. 65 free throws:ohbrother:, at one time there were 8 players on the court with 4 fouls each. I am so tired of going to a high school game to watch a good match-up like Giesler/Pike, only to have them both on the bench most of the first half in foul trouble. I don't go to watch the refs, let the players determine the outcome.
