I can see Newport's athleticism giving them some problems, but in the end Highlands is too disciplined at both ends of the floor for the Wildcats to win this game.

 

Look for Grubbs to have a big game down low.

I understand Grubbs will not be participating this evening (prior obligation). I also suspect that Kowolonek will be watching this one, not sure about Grote. A short-handed Birds squad will have their hands full at Newport............could be an interesting game.

That's the way i understand it also, Grubbs out of town and Kowolonek still not ready,but to my understanding Grote will be back.

I like Highlands to rebound with a comfortable victory in the 8-12 point range.

I'm kind of interested in the Grubbs thing. Can anyone expand on that?

Grubbs may have Christmas visit to help Santa get all the Elves squared away, especially the naughty elves. He's been going since July, a little break won't hurt him as long as he takes it easy on the Christmas Ham. I would hate to have to feed that boy.

I would be surprised if Highlands beats Newport without Kowolonek and Grubbs. Plus Grote has to be rusty from not playing. I would think Newport has to be the favorite in this one. I guess we'll see just how deep Highlands really is.

These are good early season games to get that depth quality minutes while the usual starters are out. It can only help them when tourney time comes around.
