mcraycraft Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 What will Newport need to do to win it all? What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses?
paNDA Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 They need to continue to play with confidence. All six can score at any time and from any place on the floor. Let Foster push the action and score or dish. We can do this again 9th Region! Newport was the only team that had no trouble shooting on the college floor during the 9th Region games. Rupp is no different. Go get em Wildcats. http://pandasportspics.blogspot.com/
Mustang Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 We saw Christian County at the Ashland Invitational Tournament. They were very beatable there. Mason County and East Carter both defeated them. The Colonels were playing without Williams (?) thier best player though. The two teams are very similar. I think Newport MUST control the tempo, and not get caught up in a run-gun-have fun game. The Wildcats have the size advantage, and I feel they are the better shooters. Another sterling defensive effort will be required. Should be a fun ballgame.

NEERFAN Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Hopefully the Cats can defeat the Colonels, I would love to head down 75 for the Friday afternoon tilt.
Clyde Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Their weakness is depth. That will make a run over 3 days tough.

Christian County was without Shaquile Wilson, and yes he is one of their best players.
StickerMann Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 What will Newport need to do to win it all? What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses? Strengths--Athleticism, experience, good size Weaknesses--Consistency, depth
School Yard Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 They have to continue to play as a team. Sometimes when they got behind they got away from their offense and played too much one on one. They also must rebound. I don't think they have that one dominant rebounder, so they all have to hit the boards.
TAC Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 They need to play as a team. Good luck down state! This is the best thing to happen to Newport since they built the Levee! Great to see the city rally around their team.

Rebounding is the whole key for this team as it was in the Holmes game, if they only give the other teams one shot and done they can go a long way. You are rite it will take the whole team rebounding.
Einstein70 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 The Wildcats need to continue to play with confidence. The whole team needs to be rebounding. They have to play as a team. The depth has been in question all year. I would like to say Congratulation to Newport, and if they don't win another game they have already done some great things. This group will be known as one of the best to ever come threw hear. GO WILDCATS!!!!!
NKYThreeFer Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Demarcko Foster and Anthony Luther are the x-factors for Newport. Big man Casey McDaniel is consistent; you know exactly what you'll get from him. However, as point guard Foster and the ultra-athletic Luther go, so goes Newport.

I agree with you but you've also got to consider the playing style of Collins too. Collins is the intimidating factor. Collins has the ability to keep the other team's players in an uproar and they get caught up with it and loose focus on their game. Then you have Sizemore too. Sizemore is the one that other teams loose focus on too. Teams tend to disregard Sizemore and before you know it he has came down the floor and hit 4 or 5 three's. The sixth man for Newport is Tucker and he has the ability to hit the three once he gets his range set.
UCRN Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 They need a little luck...and keep their poise! They have talent! WHAT MAKES dem WILCATS WILD!! Go get 'em Big Red & Black!!
