I had heard that the Trinity vs St. X game was rescheduled for the last weekend in November. Any truth????????

Who has Corbin lined up to play in the pre-season?

Shepard is a special baseball player, but more importantly he is a special kid. Congrads on the record. I have a feeling that we will see some more records from this sophmore before his time at LC is up.

1. In 1996 second round game Cunnigham from Allen Co.-Scottsville hits a leaning 3 pointer to tie the game with only secongs to spare against Paintsville. Sophmore JR Vanhoose steps out of bounds and hurls a baseball pass the length of the floor to a streaking Todd Tackett for the game winning layup as time expired. Any other sophmore in the state would have called a timeout there. 2. I can't recall for sure but I think it was 1995 when Marshall Co. led by Dan Langi (sp) took on St. X in the second round. Dan Langi put on a show to get the win, but the ST. X crowd was one of the best I have ever seen (along with the Cov. Cath. crowds of recent years). They really knew how to have a good time. 3. In 1999 the semi-final game between Scott Co. & Pad. Tilghman. The Tornado's had controlled the game the entire time and then Scott Humprey was whistled for what looked like over the back. The ref called the fould on Tilghman and kept Humphrey from fouling out. It was the first time at a state tournament that I can remember the entire crowd (outside of Scott Co. fans) booing an official. The announcer even asked them to stop. 4. Chris Lofton's insane night against Ballard in the state championship. 5. Rick Jones being Rick Jones through pretty much the whole tournament. Just a few off the top of my head.

Corbin could be the dark horse in the upper bracket, but they have a date with the upper bracket's best team in the first round. I think Eastern will have better athletes and be a little deeper, but if Corbin shoots well they will have a shot at the end. I think Eastern will win, but I am pulling hard for Corbin.

This will be one of the better match ups in the first round. Conflicting styles with 2 very athletic teams. I see Holmes coming out on top but I think it will be hard earned and could very well go Christian County's way.

Voted for Elliott by mistake. I think Anderson will win this one. Rematch of a game that they feel like they could have and should have won. Pulling for Elliott but going to take Anderson.

West Jessamine 15. Grayson Co. 16. Graves Co. I think Holmes going to the finals last year will pay off big for them this year. Shelby Valley has already beaten Elliot Co. once and if they had hit free throws it would not have been close. That paired with a 6'9 player makes them a legit threat I think. Louisville Eastern is in the top bracket away from the 11th, 10th, 9th, 15th, & 16th regions. They could and should benefit from this. Elliott is the every man of this tournament, but when you live from the outside things can get a little hairy for you. I don't see them doing what everyone hopes.

Going to go with Coach Humphrey's boys in this one. Here is hoping to see the Cardinals at the State Tournament.

I'm pulling for GRC. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mason come away with it. Anyone else would be considered an upset to me.

I will buy that the 16th is better than the 15th and that the 15th is the weakest region in the state top to bottom. I don't think anyone outside of Shelby Valley would beat East Carter. Have you seen both Shelby Valley & Elliot County play this year?

Top to bottom it very well could be, but Shelby Valley, when healthy, can play with and beat any team in the state.

I always thought Gino was a better high school QB than Lorenzen. Lorenzen had a bigger arm, but Gino's passes could not have been placed any better. I have always thought that behind Tim Couch, Gino Guidugli was the best high school QB I have ever seen in person. That puts him ahead of Lorenzen, Chris Redman, Brian Brohm, Michael Bush, the Burke kid from Lex. Cath., & Newton from Carmel.

That is not true in all cases. If you don't have good attendance by paying fans then you could end up losing money when you take into effect that you have to pay officals, teachers/custiodans working the game, field wear & tear, concession workers, & emergency staff & local police. If you have poor attendance you could find yourself very easily losing money.

Here is who I will be pulling for: A: Hazard (But I fully expect for Beechwood to win this one easy) AA: Fort Campbell (Won't be surprised if NCC gets the W) AAA: Breathitt Co (Will be really surprised if they play with let alone beat Central) AAAA: Bell Co. (Ok this one should win) AAAAA: Highlands (See Bell Co, only more one sided) AAAAAA: Simon Kenton (Not really going to place any money on this bet)

I think Simon Kenton is a very good football team and they have had a great season, but I would take every single Northern KY team and rank them ahead of SK. Highlands is the elite of NKY (like most years). Beechwood & NCC are both more or less even this year I think (even though NCC beat Beechwood). Then I think Simon Kenton comes bringing up the rear. Nothing to be ashamed of behind those teams. You are talking about probabley 3 of the 10 most successful programs in the history of Kentucky high school football. Nothing at all wrong with being behind those schools, seeing as just about every other school is also.

Trinity & St. Xavier are two of the largest schools in the state in totals of boy population. So when you add their superior numbers with superior coaching and unlimited support from administration & communities then throw in the superior facilities you end up with superior programs. Trinity and St. X are (along with Higlands) the stick by which football in KY is measured and they have only them selves to thank since it is they as a community and administration that put the time, effort, and money into making themselves great.

Whitley Co. will have a tough time in this one. I think JC had the chance to pull the upset against Highlands, but Whitley may be a little over-matched in this one. I'll pick the Blubirds by 3+ scores. I hope Whitley can get some breaks and have a shot late to win it, but I just don't see it.

Raceland & LCA. Sometimes things just seem to be fated. Like Joker tells Batman in the Dark Knight "I think you and I are destined to do this forever!" that kind of sums up these 2 teams. They always seem to meet in the playoffs. There will be offense galore and forget about one side out coaching the other since both coaching staffs are top notch. The bottom line is going to come down to making plays. Being in good position will not cut it in this one, you better make the play. I am a big believer that if you work hard and do the right thing then sometime; something good will happen to you. Well Raceland from this Sheldon Clark Cardinal fan, I hope it is your time. I am pulling for the Golden Eagle in this one, but I voted for the Bluebirds. Johnson Central is a darn good football team, but in order to beat Highlands they have to have a few things go their way. First they have to shorten the game. Run the play clock down every play before starting the candance. The shorter the game the less Highlands will have the ball. The less Highlands has the football the better JC's chances are. They also must contain special teams play. The diffrence in Northern Kentucky teams and Eastern Kentucky teams (aside from SPEED) is special teams. Highlands will have a strong kicking game and JC must keep that in check. JC's punts have to cover some distance and not allow the Bluebirds to have a short field. They can't let Highlands speedy return teams have their way with the JC cover teams. Calculated risks. JC will have to push the envelope at some point, but they can't go crazy and always go for it. Luck. JC is going to catch some breaks some where. If Highlands plays well & JC plays well then Highlands wins. JC needs a break or two. A fumble, big penalties, muffed kick, something. Good luck Eagles, I'm afraid you're going to need it.

I would love to see Ashland pull the win, but I don't expect to see it. I think the Bryan Station game was a bit of an eye opener to the Bluebirds and I do not envy Ashland this week. If Mr T. were here he would say "I Pitty The Fool Who Gonna Play Highlands This Week!" I hope Ashland can keep it close and have a chance to win it in the end, but I fear that this one may be over by halftime. Highlands: 49 Ashland: 7
