  1. Big diffrence in doing it 2 times a year and on a night in night out basis. He gets rebounds yes, but he still has put up massive numbers playing below average teams. I do not consider the best player on the floor in a Morehead vs EKU game to be great. He is a good player in a bad confrence IMO, but he is good no dobut I just do not see him above Jones in any shape way form or fashion. The schedule he plays would keep him off any of my ballots.
  2. I think if Jones played against the same competition that Faried did all season his numbers would have been better than Faried's. JMO.
  3. Will be leaving for my honeymoon on 06/12/2011. Getting married the day before. We are going to Hawks Cay Resort in the Flordia Keys. Can not wait. http://www.hawkscay.com/
  4. If Duke wins the ACC Tournament I have no problem with them being a #1 seed. I am not a Duke fan but I do not think that your seeding in confrence should determine your seeding in the NCAA Tournament. By that logic since West Virginia was a #3 seed in the Big East Confrence ( http://www.bigeast.org/portals/5/fls/19400/pdfs/Men_Basketball/2009_2010_Weekly_Release/MBB_200910_Final.pdf) then they should not have played their way into that #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. I think every UK fan out there will say WVU was well deserving of that #2 seed. Duke is still one of the best teams in the country. They are not playing their best basketball right now, but that does not change the fact that they are capable of beating anyone on any given night. Most teams would have folded up shop with the loss of a player like Irving. Where would UK be with Knight injured? My # 1 seeds would be: * Ohio State * Pitt * Kansas * Duke/BYU/Notre Dame The last spot would be given to Duke if all three teams go out of confrence tournaments at the same time. If Duke goes out before Notre Dame then ND is a #1. If both go out early BYU sneaks up.
  5. Jones is 3nd Team (one of only 3 freshmen to make any team) Knight is honorable mention and Lamb is 6th man of the year. Not bad for such a yonug UK team IMO. I would think Harrelson had to be in the running for most improved. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=jn-allam030711
  6. WOW. That is 2 full quarters. Was it good defense by Rowan, bad offense by Lewis, or both?
  7. 1st Team All State Defensive Lineman (Courier-Journal & Bluegrasspreps.com) Channing Smith has decided to continue his football career at Pikeville College/University (Whatever it is called now) for Dudley Hilton. Channing is only the 2nd 1st Team All State Football player in Sheldon Clark's history and more importantly a great kid. Congrads to him and his family.
  8. Most would but in the 15th region there is not much to say. When he is lighting you up for 30+ you kind of have to bite your tounge.
  9. I have seen him play and he is a player. He shoots alot but most of them are good shots. When he gets near the volleyball line you had better be on him because he is well within range. His team runs lots of sets to get him looks and use LOTS of on ball screens to let him create. Early in the year he was pressing the action too much, but since about midway through the season he has allowed his team-mates to make plays some. He distributes the ball well and has a couple other players than can hit shots. Pike Central goes as Hobo goes no doubt about it. He scores so much in part because he has to. Pike Central struggles to score if Hobo is not effective. Other players on the team hit shots, but Hobo is the straw that stirs the drink. He gets them open looks by breaking down the defense. He is average size maybe around 6'0 give or take. He is going to play for Pikeville College/University or whatever it is called now.
  10. Not at all. Johnson Central had the most talent in the 15th, but most people considered their questionable coaching and lack of team chemistry 2 big reasons why they would not win the region. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians for the Golden Eagles. Valley beat JC earlier as SportsGuy41017 said. All in all this is how most of the coaches in the 15th saw Johnson Central's season ending. A loss to a team that was less talented, but better coached and more disciplined.
  11. Underwear Shirt Pants Tie Socks Belt Shoes Jacket Same routine every morning.
  12. It also has 0 teams ranked in the top 25. This year the 15th is weak. No shame in it. Shelby Valley was a great team last year, but that was last year. And lets face it the All A Classic Championship is not a huge acomplishment. The same team that won the All A Classic State Title did not even place in the Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic and was waxed by 32 against Lex Cath. No shame in being a weak region every so often. Most regions have down years. This year is the 15th's year to be down.
  13. Then we will have to agree to disagree.
  14. He has "IT" just like Lamar Odom has it. He is never going to be a Patterson or Chuck Hayes that will do whatever it takes to win, but he is going to be productive. He has the skill sets and athletic ability to be a solid NBA player and will be a top pick because of his potential. He is just as strong as Patterson was as a freshman. You are comparing junior Patterson to freshman Jones. Jones will get stronger the older he gets he is maybe 19 years old.
  15. Did you not see the UCONN or the Georgia game on the road (It may have been South Carolina)? He had dunks in traffic those games as in the Notre Dame game. Teams are forcing him to shoot jumpers now by not taking the shot fakes.
  16. I would not doubt it. There are no sure fire NBA stars in this draft outside of Irving from Duke IMO. Patterson was a lottery pick and Jones is a MUCH better pro prospect than Patterson was. He is about the same height with more athleticism and more upside due to his age and skill sets. He does not posses the blue collar attitude of Patterson, but few players do IMO.
  17. I would say yes. I do not think he is one of the top 10 players in the NCAA, but that has nothing to do with the NBA Draft or NBA success. On potential he is a top 5 pick. He has the size and athleticism to play in the NBA. He is about the size of Patterson and plays much higher above the rim than Patterson ever did in college. I will be shocked if Jones is in Kentucky Blue next year or if he is not a top 5 pick in the Draft.
  18. The region is maybe the most balanced in the state. All the teams are so weak that they are about even. Most would give the favorite label to Johnson Central or Betsy Layne, but any of these teams could get hot for a night and find a spot at Rupp.
  19. I for one am pulling for Rowan in this one. Would love to see them punch their ticket to Rupp.
  20. East Kentucky Expo March 2nd: Pike County Central vs South Floyd - 6:30 Johnson Central vs Shelby Valley - 8:15 March 3rd: Pikeville vs Sheldon Clark - 6:30 Betsy Lane vs Belfry - 8:15
  21. To me it seems that Jones is gone, Knight is on the bubble, and Lamb wants to go but will end up staying. Jones is a top 5 pick since the NBA drafts on potential and Jones is ate up with it. Knight is somewhat of the wild card I think. Knight likes college and wants to win, but he also is projected as a first round pick and potential lottery pick. I think Knight needs to work on his game some more before making the jump (I do not see him as the same caliber athlete as elite level NBA guards) but if he was to look at next years roster he may think his production goes down mainly his scoring and move on. At this point I would say it is a 60-40 he turns pro, but would not be surprised to see him at UK next year. Lamb is the player that wants to be a pro, but also has the most room to improve his stock IMO. Putting Lamb in an offense with so many other scoring threats around him will make him that much more dangerous as a shooter and get him more open looks I think. It would also give him more time to wok on handling the ball and guarding ball handlers for his pro career. On the other hand if Knight stays he will feel a little pressed to go seeing as playing time could be split between Teague, Knight, and Lamb. I think it would be hard to play with all 3 of them in the game since they all lack the ability to match up with a true small forward. Maybe when teams come with a 3 guard set, but hard to see it often I think. I also think that either Hood or Vargas or both will be gone. I am leaning toward Vargas simply because I think he is awful and has not future, but Hood is not developing like anyone had hoped and might start seeing the writing on the wall.
  22. Those are 4 good wins in my book. Duke should be #1 and I still think they are the best team in the country with Irving healthy. And that is coming from a UK fan.
