  1. Yes they will. I am pulling for the underdogs in this one, but I don't think it will matter much. Hazard is on a mission. Hazard: 56 Pineville: 14
  2. The poll shows Fairview vs Frankfort. I am taking Fairview over Williamsburg. There is just something about this Fairview team that makes me like them for some reason.
  3. Frankfort is a very good A football team. If they drop this one I will be shocked. Good luck to both. Frankfort: 35 Walton Verona: 14
  4. I am a big Lawerence County fan when they are playing anyone besides Sheldon Clark, but I also tend to pull for the boys from Log Mountain at every chance. Since my heart likes both teams about even I will let my head pick and say this one will be all one sided. Bell Co. will have a chip on their shoulder and remember some of the events from last year. Lawrence IMO is not as good as last year, but will not have the off the field issues again. I think it will be a physical har hitting football game that Bell will control from first whistle to final horn. God luck to both. Bell County: 56 Lawrence Co. 7
  5. Rowan is a good football team, but I just do not think they are capable of pulling a win out against a very physical Knox Central team. I wish the Vikings luck and hope I am wrong, but I don't see this one being close. Knox: 42 Rowan: 14
  6. Cov. Cath. will do what Cov. Cath. does (Win against teams they should beat) and Ashland will do what Ashland does (fold in big games). I watched Ashland early and thought this could be the year they get over the hump, but as the season wore on Ashland wore down. I hope the Tomcats prove me wrong, but I am afraid they will not. Cov. Cath.: 42 Ashland: 14
  7. Appalachian News Express had in the paper yesterday information on Pike County Central being investigated by the KHSAA. If they broke the rules then they should not be allowed to play or advance IMO.
  8. St. X Seneca may have the best player on the field, but St. X will have the best 11.
  9. If I had to take 1 team it would be the Sheldon Clark Cardianls. They have lost some games, but their schedule was brutal and they are finally healthy again. SC could be a tough out for anyone in AAA.
  10. JJ Jude & JK Hall are way to much for Scott. This one is over by halftime. JC: 42 Scott: 7
  11. I would be shocked this time around if Haywood is not ready for West Carter because this Comets team is good. That being said I am not sure if the Belfry players will be ready for West Carter. The kind of speed and athleticism that the Comets bring to the table is hard to prepare for in practice with scout team players. The Comets are capable of beating any team in the region with their big play capablity. Belfry will have to try and contain the big plays if they want to win this game. Should be a good 1st round match up IMO.
  12. Belfry has Phillip Haywood........... Belfry is a bigger AAA football team, but not huge. They have good team speed and a fullback that is quick and runs very hard. He is tough to bring down and has speed to rip off big runs. Belfry has some kids who can really move in open field and will run the football 80-85% of the time. The 2010 Pirates are like almost every other Haywood coached team they are not going to beat themselves.
  13. This is one of the best (if not the best) 1st round matchups in the state at AAA. Pike Central is a high octane offense that can score points quickly and in bunches. Russell is a team with GREAT tradition and can keep the football from opponetns and limit the number of possesions. I can see this one going either way. Russell has flown under the radar most of the year with injuries and the wing-t can give defenses fits if you are not used to seeing it. Russell has had problems defending the pass in recent years and few teams pass it better than Pike Central in Eastern Kentucky. I am not ready to make a prediction on the outcome only that this one has all the makings of being a dandy.
  14. Mason will run away with this one from the start. East Ridge has getten better this year no doubt about it, but they are not in the Royals' league. Mason is one of the few teams in the East that I think can play for a state championship. I'll say: Mason Co: 56 East Ridge: 14
  15. Lawrence will take care of business in this one. The Bulldogs will have a chip on their shoulder over not being the #1 seed. I think they will win this one and as a prize they get an all expenses paid (by the gate) trip to Log Mountain on November 12th. I'll say: Lawrence Co: 35 Rockcastle: 7
  16. Knox will win this one going away. Greenup will not slow down Knox and Knox will have a big lead early and call the dogs off quick. I will say: Knox: 49 Greenup Co: 14
  17. I think Belfry is a little down and West Carter is better than normal, but this game is still at Pond Creek. Belfry does not drop many games at home and I don't see this one being any diffrent. I am going to say Belfry wins. Belfry: 35 West Carter: 21
  18. It will be tough. Knox is much mre physical, but the game will be in Morehead and with Cross & Wing in the backfield Rowan will have a shot.
  19. That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything.
  20. Looks good to me. I think Mayfield is ahead of the pack right now and will be tough to beat, but 2 - 7 are all solid teams that could get Mayfield with a little help.
  21. 7 Sheldon Clark 5 South Floyd 3 Betsy Lane 2 Russell 1 Harlan County TB Sheldon Clark
  22. This one will be UGLY. Here is hoping everyone stays injury free. Belfry's defensive ends had better be cautious of East Ridge cut blocking from TE to TE. They will cut someone almost every play. Belfry: 49 East Ridge: 6
  23. This should be a close game.................................... Before kickoff. Somerset rolls once again.
