  1. On a side note I have now been told that the Bengals are now looking to make Hartline a backup QB next year.....
  2. The overall quality of SEC opponets for this years team is what has everyone so upset. This should have been the year for UK to get into a bigger and better bowl, not because they were better than the normal Brooks era teams (they were worse IMO) but because the SEC was not as brutal as usual. That is just my 2 cents though.
  3. Christian County will struggle untill football is over. GRC wins this one easy.
  4. Did not think this Belfry team had what it took to make it to Bowling Green, but Haywood (and staff) has done his best coaching job in the last 10-15 years IMO. The last 3 times Belfry has played for a State Title you looked at the Pirates and were amazed at the size & athletes they put on the field. With this team you are amazed at the execution and the heart they play with. Congrads to the Pirates from this Sheldon Clark fan.
  5. With a game like this and the comeback does this all but lock the Heisman up for Newton? Can anyone make an argument that he is not only the best player in college football, but also the most valuable to his team? I have a hard time seeing anyone elses name called out when the winner is announced.
  6. Patterson would be the matchup on Walker. Miller would have to guard Mercer. While Wall or Bledsoe would end up with Anderson. Most likley Bledsoe with Wall on Delk because of his greater size and shot contesting ability. Mercer would give some problems there as would Walker, but I do not think that anyone on the UK team could handle Wall or Cousins consistently all night. When Liggins came in he would be able to slow down Mercer (as would Miller IMO) who was not the primary scoring option in 95-96 that he was in 96-97. Patterson was not the athlete that Walker was, but he would be able to keep him from going off IMO. In a game all about matchups I think this one would be difficult for the 95-96 team, but that is just me.
  7. Wow did not see this coming. I just don't think 95-96 could pressure a team with Wall and Bledsoe the whole game. The 95-96 team struggled with athletic big men (Marcus Camby) enter Cousins. On the boards I think the 09-10 team has an advantage. I do not see anyone who would match up with Wall since Epps & Delk were not great defensive players. Depth and coaching on the side of 95-96, but I do not think they could win 4 out of 7 games IMO. It seems like I am in the minority here though.
  8. I was talking to a family member over the weekend and said I thought the 09-10 UK Wildcats could win a 7 game series against any UK team ever. I was wondering what other BGP people thought. The only team that I think could cause problems would be the 95-96 National Champions. They had the talent to push 09-10, but the up-tempo pressing style might play into Wall & companys favor. If the game got tight I would give an edge to Pitino's team because of Pitino, but I don't think 96 could win 4 out of 7.
  9. I could not agree more. Liggins has something to hang his hat on (Hustle & defense) where Barbour just never seemed to get it. They are comparable athletes, but Liggins has overcame alot more and seems to get after it as much if not more than Barbour ever did IMO.
  10. Bell County is one of the more physical football teams in the state of Kentucky regardless of class. I think with the game being at the Hilton Hotel it will be hard for Boyle to come away with a win, but if anyone can do it these Rebels can. Should be a classic that will come down to penalties and turnovers. The team with the fewest will win and the other will start basketball/wrestling practice. I am taking the Bobcats of Bell County. Good luck to both. Bell County: 28 Boyle County: 14
  11. Not at all. I was on the pressbox and he was well within bounds. If the reciever catches the bait is a touchdown with the PAT or 2 point conversion attempt (What Matney would have went for) pending.
  12. When all things look even I go with the coach. My vote goes to Sam Harp and the boys from Danville. Good luck to both.
  13. I did say that and I do think Highlands has the advantage in special teams, but I still think the Bluebirds are primed for an upset. I think if Highlands wins special teams will factor into the equation, but I am picking JC to win in the end.
  14. This game could come down to special teams. More often than not teams from Northern Kentucky have a huge advantage on Eastern Kentucky teams when it comes to the special teams department. Field position will be a key to JC's success. That being said I think the Eagles get the W. JC keeps the ball controls the clock and tempo and makes just enough plays to send home the Bluebirds. Good luck to both. Johnson Central: 28 Highlands: 21 *If anyone has them could someone post JJ Jude's game by game stats*
  15. Not intended as a dig at the Green Co. coach in any shape, form, or fashion. But Harp has a resume that few can match IMO. Not saying coaching does not require talent because it does and often talented coaches can be the diffrence in a close game, but Harp is a talented coach with TONS of experience. That to me is a winning combonation more often than not. Good luck to both teams.
  16. Pruitt is his name. He is very quick. He will try to get to the corner as much as possible and can make people miss. This will be an interesting matchup when Pruitt gets in space as he tries to use his great athleticism against a Mason County team that is LOADED with athletes. Should be one of the matchups that make this one a great game to watch.
  17. I think these 2 teams are about even so in situations like this I go with the coach. Sam Harp is the diffrence in this one. Danville pulls it out. Danville: 28 Green Co. 21
  18. I voted for LCA, but I am pulling for Raceland. I tried to think this one through. Every year in the playoffs when these 2 meet I pull and vote for Raceland, but LCA has always came away with the win. So this time I put my vote for LCA hoping the Rams can get the W. Good luck Raceland from Inez. Here at Sheldon Clark we will be listening to updates on this game and pulling for you. Should be a good one.
  19. Johnson Central is a good football team that has played a brutal schedule. Cov. Cath. is more athletic of the 2 teams and could easily pull out the W, but with the game being at the Eagle's Nest I think Matney will have the Eagles ready to roll. I am going to say Johnson Central wins a good one at home and their prize is a 1 time (non-refundable) date with the Bluebirds of Fort Thomas. Not much of a prize IMO. Johnson Central: 35 Covington Cath.: 24
  20. Highlands will be Highlands. Blubirds win. Highlands: 35 Dixie: 14
  21. If Mason County can contain the Belfry fullback (Willis) then they will win this one. If Willis has some success then look out because Belfry will chew up the clock and try to keep Mason County's big play offense on the sideline. This is a matchup that could go either way, but in the end with the game at Maysville and with the weapons Mason has I think the Royals will pull it out. It will be close, but to many athletes for Pond Creek Nation. I'll say: Mason County: 28 Belfry: 24
