bigblueinsanity Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Out of the Sweet 16 teams left rank them on the best to bottom.
5thIndian Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 It would be very hard to rank them. Alot of balance in this tournment, very wide open! The 1st rd matchups are great, they are so evenly matched! It is going to be a great tournment! I think the Favorites are Eastern, Elliott Co, Homles, Corbin, Lex Cath, and Shelby Valley, not necessarily in that order.
tezzyrice Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I agree with 5throundball, but if I had to rank them based on chances to win the sweet 16: 1. Holmes 2. Eastern 3. Corbin 4. Elliott Co 5. Shelby Valley 6. Lexcath 7. Mason Co 8. Anderson Co 9. Christian Co 10. Adair Co 11. Bowling Green 12. Hazard 13. West Jessamine 14. Central 15. Grayson Co 16. Graves Co
setforlife Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 1. Elliott Co. 2. Holmes 3. Shelby Valley 4. Eastern 5. Lex Catholic 6. Corbin 7. Mason Co 8. Anderson Co 9. Christian Co 10. Adair Co 11. Bowling Green 12. Hazard 13. West Jessamine 14. Central 15. Grayson Co 16. Graves Co
BigCountryBoy Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I agree with 5throundball, but if I had to rank them based on chances to win the sweet 16: 1. Holmes 2. Eastern 3. Corbin 4. Elliott Co 5. Its not so much as who is the best team, but who has the best chance to win it based on the draw.
bigblueinsanity Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 1. Holmes 2. Elliott Co. 3. Eastern 4. Shelby Valley 5. Lex Cath 6. Mason Co. 7. Corbin 8. Christian Co. 9. Anderson Co. 10. Bowling Green 11. Adair Co. 12. Hazard 13. Central 14. West Jessamine 15. Grayson Co. 16. Graves Co.

Cover Corner Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 1. Holmes 2. Shelby Valley 3. Eastern 4. Lexington Catholic 5. Elliott Co. 6. Christian Co. 7. Corbin 8. Mason Co. 9. Anderson Co. 10. Hazard 11. Adair Co. 12. Bowling Green 13. Central 14. West Jessamine 15. Grayson Co. 16. Graves Co. I think Holmes going to the finals last year will pay off big for them this year. Shelby Valley has already beaten Elliot Co. once and if they had hit free throws it would not have been close. That paired with a 6'9 player makes them a legit threat I think. Louisville Eastern is in the top bracket away from the 11th, 10th, 9th, 15th, & 16th regions. They could and should benefit from this. Elliott is the every man of this tournament, but when you live from the outside things can get a little hairy for you. I don't see them doing what everyone hopes.
Les Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 1. Holmes 2. Eastern 3. Corbin 4. Shelby Valley 5. Elliott County 6. Mason County 7. Lexington Catholic 8. Anderson County 9. Christian County 10. Central 11. Hazard 12. Bowling Green 13. Adair County 14. West Jessamine 15. Grayson County 16. Graves County

B-Ball-fan Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I know one thing is that this should be a pretty awesome Sweet 16! Out of these lists, I can see a strong case for the teams in most people's top 8. With Scott Co. gone and taking nothing away from Lex Cath or any of the top 8, but the playing field has been evened out a bit. Bottom line is that only 1 team will remain, but it's certainly gonna be a fight to the finish with, IMO, no clear cut favorite.

wildcatfan Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Eastern over Corbin in a close one. The winner of this game goes to the final. In the other half of the bracket, Holmes is the favorite. I think Eastern could be the most difficult team for Holmes to beat in the final, but I will root for Holmes as the 9th region representative.

Eastern is a mirror image of Holmes, but I think their lack of a big man could hurt them if they meet Holmes, Shelby Valley, or Elliott County in the finals. A team will have to have solid guard play and a good big man to win the sweet 16. Very rarely does a team with all guards win the state title. You have to have size and some depth.
