Beck: Norway camp smacks of "Hitler Youth"

Recommended Posts

Just when you thought that partisan politics knew no bounds, Glenn Beck comes rushing in with this gem:

Beck said the camp "sounds a little like, you know, the Hitler Youth or whatever. Who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing."

Good grief, man. Show a little more respect than that.

The sad thing is that people will still watch him! They won't stand up and say that he has crossed the line and demand he is fired! You think Beck is about the right? NO! He is about himself! Anything that draws attention to him!

Interesting that he slams this camp, as he founded an an organization around 2001 that has political "camps" too!

So this is worse then the tools on Bill Maher's show comparing the Republicans in congress to Arafat and then saying they wished they were dead like Arafat? The hateful tripe comes from both sides but IMVHO it only seems to be those from the right that get slammed for it.

Maher is no better than Beck- partisan ideologues who do nothing more than incite furor from the other side. But you have to admit, Beck saying this was in very poor taste at best and at worst it was disrespecting the people of Norway and the victims of the tragedy.

We may not like him saying it, it may be politically incorrect, it may be insensitive, but is he wrong? I don't know about the Hitler youth thing but I sure don't like the political camp thing, for anyone.

What about Young Republicans or Young Democrats in America?

The point he is making that the youth were being politcally indoctrinated. Were they being indocrinated to hate Jews and take over the world, I doubt it? That was not the comparsion. The comparision was political indoctrination.

Young Democrats and Republicans decide as young adults to join, whereas, as I understand it, these were under 18 young people attending the camp.

When comparisions are made between a situation and the Nazis it is about politics, not death camps and world domination.

Were they? Do you know? Or are you just making an assumption? I'm sure if it was a conservative camp they would be hailed as patriots.

Again, this isn't about what went on at that camp. Dozens were murdered and none of them deserved to die, no matter what their political affiliation is. I just hate that Beck felt like he had to go there.

I agree with what you're saying and I think that is EXACTLY why the guy Bevrik or whatever his name is chose that camp. He wants to draw attention to himself, his beliefs and his manifesto that he's written.

From 2 articles that I read, one person that was shot was 23 and another was 15. The camp was for a political party that the shooter disliked, because of their political beliefs.

Exactly, they were left leaning group and this guy was/is a hard core right wign nut job that thinks his country allowing muslims to immigrate there is problematic for his country and there way of life. From what I've heard and read he's against the people that are for open immigration particularly of muslims because he fears that once muslims start running for office and getting elected that it's only a matter of time until they try to have muslim laws passed. It's pretty complicated but yet very simple and just sad that this man felt killing all of these innocent people would some how solve anything.
