Pioneer League Announces No Football in 2020
bballfamily replied to TheDeuce's topic in College Football
Just texted with a MSU professor friend. He said that Morehead’s Pioneer season has been cancelled. Not likely, but may try to play an independent season. -
I realize the numbers will go up before all this is over. I do believe we have a grip on the situation with the precautions that are being taken. Will this become as bad as the regular flu, for a lack of a better description? The flu has killed 22,000 this flu season. Why did we not go to the same lengths to stop the flu, as what is being taken for covid-19? I believe I can go about life by using the prescribed precautions.

I want to mention that the minister stated that there are 20,000,000 people in Florida and 77 have the virus. That works out .00000385%. I should have mentioned I am in Florida for the winter. Kentucky’s projected 2020 population is 4,500,000 and has 21 cases, that works out to .00000467%. Also, if the situation is so bad, shouldn’t Disney World have closed back in mid-week instead of staying open until today? The same for schools in Ky. If it was so bad, they should have close mid-week, not at the end of the week.

Precautions need to be taken, but individuals want to live as close to normal, they should do so. My wife and I went to church this morning with 11 others in our group. Attendance was maybe 65% of the usual number. Which makes sense, a number of people with health issues stayed home, with some others just fearing to go out. After church 11 of us went to eat, the youngest in the group is 63. Of the other 20-24 people at the restaurant, small local establishment, almost everyone was 65 plus. During the week my wife and I went shopping, as did others in our group. I also went to the gym 3 times. In all cases the numbers were down 30-40%. The world will go on, just take precautions.

Do not retire unless you have a plan for doing something else. A part time job or volunteering, you cannot just sit around. Although do not tie yourself down where you cannot travel, help with the grandkids or just do something on the spur of the moment.

Campbell County 56 St. Henry 55
bballfamily replied to Randy Parker's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
1st game I have seen in 3 years. Game is tied at 54, St. Henry hits 1 of 2 free throws to go ahead by 1. With 10.1 seconds left, the Camels drive the length of the floor for the winning basket. -
Survivor: Island of the Idols
bballfamily replied to MJAlltheWay24's topic in Television / Films / Music
She got what she wanted at the challenge. She manipulated everyone to do what she wanted. She won the idol and everyone did eat , maybe not a lot, but they ate. Although she did waste the idol, but that was later. -

Lauren made one of the best, if not the best, play in Survivor history. -

I conclude by the limited responses on this season that not as many are watching or at least not as interested. Personally, I am about to stop watching, as I see enough whiney people in the news who say things that turn out to be lies and/or manipulations of the facts. -
Reds Deadline Rumors/Moves
bballfamily replied to ChickenWyngz's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
Not sure if you are speaking of Puig or Scooter. If you are talking about Scooter, I believe he had intentions of staying, as he and his wife bought a house in Alexandria for this season instead of renting. I’m sure he was planning on staying by buying rather than renting. -
Open Job: Campbell County

Nolan Boone is a math teacher at Campbell Co. I believe he worked with the boys team previously. -
Open Job: Pendleton County

I was told by someone close to the coaching staff that Brent Sowder turned down the job. Can anyone confirm or deny? -
Read this morning that Tampa Bay is going with a rotation of 3 starters and 2 openers, aka relief pitchers. They play the Giants early and plan on pinch hitting for the openers. The article said they used this system late last year. I follow the Reds, but do not pay close enough attention to have heard of this. How did it work out last year? Do they have big enough roster for this move?

Religion and Population Control
bballfamily replied to doomer's topic in Religion, Ethics, and Philosophy
From Thomas Malthus to Paul Ehrlich to Al Gore and a host of doomsayers, mankind has managed to make gains to feed an ever increasing population. I will be among the first to say everything is anywhere near perfect. Overall mankind has seen an improvement in the standard of living for most people. Many who have not seen improvements are in totalitarian states. I believe mankind will make improvements economically, environmentally, socially and agriculturally to continue to make the world a better place to live. -
Campbell County 97 Calvary Christian 15

Should have Mt. Notre Dame (OH) called off the dogs earlier when they beat Campbell Co. by 51? The Lady Camels have a pretty good team. A coach I know has a rule that 3-4 passes have to be made before a shot is taken in a lopsided game. Its life, learn to deal with it. -
I have not read all the posts on this thread and maybe someone has already mentioned what I am about to say. I had a business class my senior year high school,1968-69, and the teacher made the statement that we would not write checks or use cash some day. I thought, yeah right, well he is getting closer to being right as time goes by. So this trend is not really surprising. It may have accelerated under Gen Z, but it started long ago. As for me, I use cards as little as possible, particularly gas stations and restaurants.

Depending on where you are going in Florida, try going down US 27 one time. Tried it back in January. A little slow through the northern part of Tn. In a good part of Georgia and the part we used in Fl. it was 4 lane and at times you could go 65mph. You could go to Chattanooga and hit 27 southwest of the city. In Tallahassee, Fl. 27 and 19 become the same road, they split at Chiefland, Fl. US 27 crosses I-75 at Ocala and heads on down towards Winter Haven, Sebring and Miami. My wife and I headed on down 19 to Clearwater, our destination. It only took maybe about 90 minutes more than I-75 to Clearwater. Plus, we avoided Atlanta. Well worth the extra time and the different scenery.

While in Reno last week the gas station down the road had gas for $3.09. Took a day trip to Sacramento, Ca. and in the mountains one station advertised gas for $4.09.
