  1. Sorry to break in, but who won the 1st game, CCHS or Ripley?
  2. Both teams played hard. MC had too many turnovers. CC missed 12-15 layups or they would have won this going away. MC has a young team, they will be a force to be reckoned with, maybe even before this season ends. CC really pushes the tempo to a fast pace.
  3. It is sad that some parents, all they have time for is to rip the coach, no matter which school is involved. They do this because each see their daughter as the next superstar. I believe that most parents overrate their child's abilities. Many are good players, but lets face it, few, if any are going to get full rides to play basketball. 2 examples come to mind. 1st is the Wood girl, now young lady, who played at Pendleton County. Her best offer was Thomas More, which by the way is well coached and has enjoyed much success over the last 5 years. 2nd example, another young lady who is now at Thomas More after transferring in last season. I do not remember her name, but she went to NCC and was the area's top player her senior year in high school and is excelling at TMC. If these young ladies did not get full rides or stay at a D1 school, there may be 1 or 2 in the area that might rate D1 rides and thats it. Parents, sit back, let the coaches coach, root them and their teamates on to victory and enjoy the season.
  4. I was told that Pendleton Co. won. I do not have a score. PC then lost to Bourbon Co. Saturday night.
  5. Here is the situation, a freshman does not earn enough credits to become a sophmore, they are now a second year freshman, are they allowed to play sports? Or do they sit out the year and earn enough credits to become a junior and become eligiible?
  6. They must be able to play well for 4 quarters. They would have leads and lose them or be behind and make a run, but fall short. Improved shooting would help as well as good floor decisions. The Ladycats at times ran up and down the floor seemingly without a clue of what they were doing.
  7. It is always sad to hear of things like this happening. May God be with his family during this difficult time.
  8. Cory has been moved a facility in Florence. As stated earlier he has a long recovery ahead of him. I wish Cory a speedy recovery as he is a good kid and his dad is a great individual, as he helped my son to be a better wrestler and person.
  9. Campbell Co. goes to Ohio on a regular basis. They used to go to Indiana at one time . I do not know if they still go there or not.
  10. Skunk. I believe what we have here is a supporter (parent?) of a player who is not seeing action. The complaining of not being there pre-season is not the real arguement, but the current lack of playing time. If this is correct, then allow the coach to make decisions as to who is playing and the people in the stands support the team. Read over the various threads of coaches leaving, it is about parents complaining and whining.
  11. As far as the coach missing sessions, yes he did attend some BB games. If he missed some winter workouts, maybe it was because his wife had a couple of minor operations and he was at the hospital. Otherwise the man was where he was supposed to be.
  12. As an individual who played high school BB and have taught a number of years, here is what I have to say. In my 1st year of teaching I realized I wanted nothing to do with coaching because of overbearing, whiny parents. After supporting 2 children who played high school sports here is my advice for parents. Sit in the stands support and cheer for the team and otherwise keep your mouth shut.
  13. Here is a point that I believe that needs to be mentioned. Just because the runner crossed the plate, the ball is still in play. The umpire does not stop play until the action on the field has stopped. Then before time is called or the defensive team has walked off the field they have the right to appeal. So as I understand it, double play, score is 9-0 and the game continues.
  14. Coaches going to the state tournament has been allowed for decades. Some of you act as if this just started this year.
  15. I agree. I enjoy going to the Fieldhouse as well. As a former resident of Campbell Co., I hope to never see the 10th Region at NKU.
  16. According to Map Quest it is 98 miles from Alexandria to Mt. Sterling if you run through Maysville and Flemingsburg. If you started out in Highland Heights, it would be close to 110 miles.
  17. The middle school was Campbell Co. HS until it moved to the new building at Claryville in 1995. What is now the middle school used to seat 3300, but they put in new seating a few years ago and it now holds about 2700, I think. The new gym seats about 1500, it just barely seats the entire student body during pep rallies. The reason they did not build it bigger, tightwads and poor decision making.
  18. The 1st post was submitted as I was typing mine.
  19. This game went into overtime. PC turned the ball over with 4-5 seconds left in overtime, tie score. Deming throws the ball in and turns it over with 2.3 seconds left. PC inbounds and Shannon Lorenz is fouled with 1.3 seconds left. Shannon hits the 1st one and missed the 2nd. Deming did not get off a last shot. Deming had 3 players to foul out and PC had 1 to foul out. Deming had too many turnovers. Hit 24-39 free throws. PC shot poorly from the field. Hit 20-31 free throws. Both teams had chances to take commanding leads, but it never happened. 1st regional appearance for the Ladycats in 10 or 12 years.
  20. PC played a hot 1st quarter. With less than a minute to go in the 2nd quarter Newport was up by 3, but went to the locker room down by 4. The game came down to the last minute. PC turned the ball over and Newport came down and took a 1 point lead. PC went down the floor and scored quickly on a lay up. With 9-10 seconds left Newport made some quick passes took a shot that missed and got the rebound for a last second that rolled off the rim. Both teams had bright moments, but each team gave up various opportunies to take complete control of the game.
  21. I believe this was the final. The spread was 21. The Ladycats did throw up a lot of bricks, some were so heavy they never hit the rim. They did play fairly well for the first 14 minutes then it went downhill. They made an effort to get back into it, but never got closer than 6 or 8 in the 2nd half. If the Ladycats shot 25% I would be surprised.
  22. If the Ladycats can hit the 3 instead of throwing up bricks they will win. Otherwise it is all Ladycamels.
  23. Down. They play hard, but there is a lot of hard work ahead of them.
  24. Brossart played some tough defense and that may be why even short jumpers and lay-ups did not go in for PC. But hontsestly I thought both teams played a subpar game. PC, if they had made any run through the 1st 3 quarters, could have been in it to the end or even pulled it out. PC was within 10-12 points until about midway through the 3rd quarter, then Brossart took total contol on both ends.
