Highlands 67 Pendleton County 40

Featured Replies

Birds roll in this one. Mcgraw and Simpson sit the entire 2nd half.

I don't know how good Pendleton is this year. Is this a good win for the Birds or is Pendleton down this year?

DOWN....Not one kid over 6'1..They play very hard but talent wise they are way down..

Down. They play hard, but there is a lot of hard work ahead of them.

42 is a nice player for Pendleton. Question; He played most of the JV game, and then logged major minutes in the Varsity game. Why wouldn't he just play Varsity? He was exhausted in the 2nd half of the V game. Just wondering.

Glad to see Willie playing his bench. How does the JV look this year? Who starts/plays?

Not down, just returning to the normal cycle of players that rural counties go through. In the future, there will be another cycle of players that come through that can compete with the region's best.

Your right, there is a nice group of younger players in the system. Hopefully you guys will get back in the hunt for the 10th Region title.

Their lack of size surprised myself and raiderbird. Seems like a rarity out of PC, no?

You answered that below.

Let me add that a good deal of this has nothing to do with effort or heart rather size.

When Pendleton went to the state, front line was 6'8", 6'5" and 6'5" transfer in. That is NOT NORMAL Pendleton County size. This year, the tallest guy is probably 6'2". THAT is normal Pendleton County size.

They play hard and work hard. And as a coach, that is what you want. Hard work.

But Coach Simms and hard work by the player can't make a 6'0" forward play as if he is 6'8" tall.

42, Dillon Green, had been struggling in his previous games on the varsity. So, I would suspect that him playing JV was used as a confidence/motivation tool. He is only a sophomore and should be a good player if he continues to improve.

Still, I wouldn't think your sixth man would be a full time JV player. I felt sorry for the kid. He was whipped at the end.
