  1. I see what you are saying, but disagree. Using the law to your advantage, nothing wrong with that. Get the law changed if you disagree. Scamming is another matter. Trump's tax plan, as discussed in another thread, eliminates, as you call them, loopholes, more properly called tax deductions. You should get behind that plan, as it does what you want, gets rid of legal tax deductions (loopholes).
  2. I have not read all posts, this may have been said already. Beating the system is fraud, using the legal nuances, well is legal. Just as tax loopholes are legal methods by which a taxpayer can reduce their taxable income. Then maybe how we define beating the system is different.
  3. I believe what you state is true for individuals like Hubert Humphrey or Jimmy Carter, but not for Jesse Jackson, Al Gore, HRC or Bernie Sanders and his followers. And while many programs were created to help certain individuals and the problems they faced, all government help efforts have a way of becoming Hydra-type programs. Growing out of control as time goes by.
  4. With potential of economic growth creating tax-paying jobs and with allowing money parked overseas coming home paying 15% in taxes, instead of getting 35% of nothing that stays parked overseas, that will in part pay for the lower tax rates. But, what will also be needed is actual reduction in spending. Example: if $100 is spent this year, next year you spend $98, not saying the projected budget is $110 and reducing it to $105 and calling it a budget cut. And yes, both Republicans and Democrats are guilty, but there are not enough true conservatives to keep the Republicans in line.
  5. All the sudden liberals are worried about the debt, after adding 9-10 trillion to the debt over the last 8 years? I am all for individuals, all individuals, keeping more of their money. It does not belong to the government. Reduce government spending in actual dollars, not the hocus-pocus tricks DC uses.
  6. What should be looked at is that these cities are protecting law breakers, some who have committed kidnapping, rape and murder. Even after they were in police custody and then released. They also broke the law entering the USA. Protecting American citizens is the number one duty of government at all levels. These cities are failing a basic responsibility to protect their citizens, instead protecting criminals.
  7. This. FDR was the last President to be inaugurated on March 4, so he had 4 months to put together programs he wanted created. I dislike the expectation that everything to be accomplished in the first 100 days. Maybe we should have elections every 4 months.
  8. I believe a third party would have to start at the local and state levels. By making gains there they could then to start to work on electing people to Congress. A true grass roots effort that would take a lot of work, effort and coordinating between the states.
  9. Other than that, you agree with what they present? And how is referring to the US as we or us negative?
  10. Would it not be better to view some of their videos and judge for yourself?
  11. I believe PragerU attempts to defend our basic freedoms, principles and capitalism. By providing information, facts and history to show people why they believe as they do, to support their conservative viewpoints. The best way to find out is to watch 2 or 3 of their videos. They are around 4 to 5 minutes long.
  12. They are just waiting for the bridges to be built to the west coast.
  13. Didn't Cincinnati have this problem around 45 years ago? What did they do to solve the problem? I remember it happening and they came to a solution, but do not remember the details.
  14. The author of this article must have studied at the Neville Chamberlain School of No Backbone.
  15. Because of the scale of death and destruction of this war, at the time it was referred to as The Great War or The War to End All Wars. It was called WWI after WWII came along.
  16. Found a list of last of WWI vets. The last surviving US Doughboy died in 2011 at the age of 110. The last surviving WWI vet was an Englishman. He died in 2012 at the age of 110. According to the article they were non combatants. The last combatants were a British sailor, 110, died 2011 and a British soldier who died at 111 in 2009.
  17. While looking at This Day In History on history.com, I realized I had forgotten today was the anniversary of the US declaring war on the Central Powers. Hard to believe that when I studied US History as a junior it was the 50th anniversary of our entering WWI. I had even met a couple of WWI vets.
  18. I see that Morehead is having a very good season. They have even beaten some teams by 10+ runs. I really have not paid much attention to MSU baseball in recent years. What do they have this year that has them at a 22-6 record?
  19. I have never read an article of similar nature about a conservative professor. Could you provide a story to support your statement? I am quite sure you will find something.
  20. Do you expect everyone to just roll over? You want the subs to get in the game and strikeout? Yes, it is a lopsided score, but it is either an incentive to improve, quit or it is a tough lesson about life.
  21. Rush, Glenn and Sean(when he is on the radio) will tell you they are presenting their viewpoints. They do not try to hide their political leanings on radio. At least they tell you that upfront, whereas MSNBC or CNN will try to make you believe they are delivering the news without a biased slant.
  22. I believe it was on the Brian Thomas show, WKRC Cincinnati, that he stated for those who receive federal dollars, federal laws must be obeyed. Therefore, they have already agreed that they will lose federal dollars, because they have not lived up to the agreement that was made with the federal government.
  23. I have 13 lawns to mow. Start tomorrow, although one of the new ones should have been mowed one last time back in the fall. I mowed it 4 weeks ago.
  24. Is this just another case of "crying wolf"? In recent years Americans, those that you might call conservative or patriotic or small government supporters, have been accused of being hateful for believing in living by the word of God. Americans have been accused of being hateful for a belief in supporting the Constitution and defending freedoms, such as the 2nd Amendment. Americans have been accused of being hateful for wanting our borders secured, yet at the same time supporting legal immigration. Americans have been accused of being hateful because they support smaller government and reduced taxes. Americans have even seen their their patriotism called hateful because they wear patriotic clothing to school or fly the American flag on their cars or trucks. While at the same time they have seen their flag walked on, spit on or burned. If there was not so much of "crying wolf", maybe some might agree, with more evidence, that there may be something to this debate. There are many who are tired of those who want to find a bad guy at every turn. Stop "crying wolf" and maybe somebody might listen.
